You don't see too many multiway pots like this in the middle stages so I was really confused about how to play it. I know the limp pre with 15bb is unorthodox but play hadn't been particularly aggressive so if I could see a flop for the min on the BTN multiway with 98o, it was worth one BB.

why would you x3 over call here? there is no way we have the best hand with 3 calls in front, also hearts, nine or 8 are non outs.

With our stack I think we need to fold pre, if we are suited I can possibly get behind a call but when there are x2 bg stacks in the blinds that can potentially squeeze we dont even guarentee seeing a flop

Overlimping weak dominated offsuit hands like this is definitely a leak. Just fold the flop as played, we are really short, rarely have the best hand, most runouts are bad and tough to play and it will be difficult to showdown.

Over-limping 98o with 15BB is a donk move. You don't have enough chips to justify the times when your hand hits hard. The odds just aren't there. I recommend you go take a look at a youtube video called "the science of suited connectors" to actually know how often they flop 2 pr or better (spoiler - around 5% of the time, or every 1 in 20 times - remember, you have only 15BB's and your cards aren't even suited!).

Anyway, in that situation, I'd just fold. I've gone one too many times when I'd call 1 or 2 BB bets when the blinds were 1k or so and lose and it adds up, especially with such a small stack as yours. The only thing you got going for you is if you hit an 8 or a 9 it won't give someone else a flush.

And let's say you do hit your 9 - now the board has an obvious str8 draw, and so you'd also have to worry about being redrawn out on, or the possibility of someone already making the straight, like someone with QJ of hearts.

Thanks for setting me straight.

I shoved and hit runner-runner for the straight but knew I played it badly and got lucky. This is why it's important to review pots you win, not just pots you lose.
