I haven't been in the game for as long as others (in fact i'm a noob compared to most guys itt) but i can see how this thing is a massive problem and i'm for getting these people outed. No need to judge me when i've done nothing wrong and willing to name someone but don't want to get it wrong without knowing 100% from my database of hands which SN it was on FTP. If it were simple, i'd SS the tournament and find them there.

And it's a $3r rush mtt. Hardly what people itt would classify as priority when a chunk of SS/MS MTTer get ghosted from a better MTTer anyway.

How the **** are we 100+ posts in and not had a single account/instance of ghosting mentioned?

Is taking over someone's account as prevalent as ppl are making it seem? Feel like I know so many poker players ,but never legit seen anyone do this and hardly heard of it being a big thing until this thread.

Also, What's the difference between asking advice during a hand and being ghosted. The numbers of hands someone has helped you with? Almost everyone has asked for help during a hand, me included obviously.

I do think changing names every 6 months or smth would be ight since you kind of wipe history with people when that happens, however, it doesnt change someone's skill level if being ghosted by a better player, just lessens the past dynamics.

At least I'm not the only one.

I am not really sure how this turned into a discussion about banning HUDs, while there are pros and cons to do that it has nothing to do with the issue at hand and if anything a hud is certainly one of the most effective way of getting the new accounts on your radar.

Like I said earlier I still don't know how I feel about posting names that we are less than 100% certain of and I don't want to go around accusing people I am not sure of, that being said I feel confident that the account Pickledoe is one everyone here would benefit from making a note on. If you look at that account it also has around 20 cashes from 07-09 in 5-10$ tournaments, then in 2013 just starts playing a complete reg schedule out of nowhere.

Fwiw, when I was deep in a major tourney one of the guys I consider as beasts in the game told me that there's a high chance that one of my villain's was ghosted by player x. Can't say the name, but I found out that player x is a backer afterwards, so i asume the player who told me this either just thought that there's a possibility that the backer takes over accounts generally or he knew smth. Another horse of this backer who I consider as a good player but not in the beast category at all crushed a couple of majors for huge scores over a short period of time as well. But how the hell can I say any names without knowing ****., i mean these players were prolly picked by the backer for a reason, might be just happenstance. I think I srsly would be much more willing to talk in a kinda skype group or smth, without accusing people in public. That tip about player y might be ghosted by player x helped me a ton! Even if stuff like this isnt true, it's a bit like with huds in tourneys, you could rely on it blindly and fail or you can take the info you get and try to squeeze out additional edge. No way this can be stopped, thats what i think atm.

I also think what kleath said is true, altho i disagree with his flames he has lots of very good points. Like about posting strategy, i did it during my learning process, and it helped me a ton doing it!
But as someone who knows "everything" (not talking bout myslef) i think it's wrong doing it as a kind of favor.

And also, im in favor of banning huds. I used it for all the time pretty much, but im in general in favor of playing less tables and using more brain. They are overrated in tourneys anyway, someone runs on my hud at 12/9 and same guy runs on another hud much much looser. 12/9 iwas the result of never being deep with that guy n a tourney, it just faked his spewing tendecies. And before anyone says i was cheating, i was just talking with a friend about someone and i said he's a nit and he said he's not. That's it.

Another idea, why dont collect info and post it anonymously? For example we make a thread for this, some mod or whoever will be responsible for this thread. Any stuff about cheating will be sent to that guy and he posts it without saying who told him. If some info comes from some strange account he will add that this info might not be true, but if some hs pro sends him some info it prolly is true. This sounds quite simple to me. Maybe im missing smth tho.

i haven't played a ton since black friday, just sparingly, and maybe it's just cuz i suck but i haven't really wanted to move out of country full time because of sht like this and tougher games. Obviously the longer black friday goes on, the more i'll have to travel. But what can u really do tho, always been this way and no way to really police it other than to build up your own knowledge on the community. Yeah im sry not quite sober. Didnt bring that hud thing up. Just said that i wouldnt really care and it wouldnt be a disadvantage for me, so if it would be a disadvantage for lots of others it would be good for me i guess. Btw i do turn it off, not because i cant read them, but because the biggest nits show down the weirdest hands even in the early stages. Not talking bout that example, but quite possible that i just witnessed way too many plays that didnt match to the hud numbers at all. Before this thread i didnt even think about cheaters.

Feel free to check that out. the guy who got 2nd is somewhat famous in the german community. I cant confirm he played without talking to his buddys during hands, although I can confirm he knows what hes doing on the regular. he used to be a coach on pokerstrategy.com. 3rd place I dont know, although I know he's been crushing midstakes cashgames (dont know how high he's playing).

and yes, I'm pretty sure a huge chunk of ppl in here who dont want to give out any names are just affraid it could maybe backfire since why wouldnt someone who got outed just claim that he knows stuff about the other person and in the end who can prove what information is true/false?
