Had a huge upswing from Sep to Dec, build up my BR and moved up stakes. I am in a 15 thou downsing now, there's probably some decent amount of spew in the latter part of the year mixed with inevitable regression to the mean.

Since my buyins are polarized (anywhere from $12 to $200 majors) and my MTT game still has leaks I expect it to go for a while.

As long as my BR is cushy, I ll be alright though. But if I start feeling insecure about it, it's going to become a heavy burden.

Drop those higher buyins from a polarized schedule long long before it becomes a heavy burden. Wish I had

remember when 100-150 buyins was standard "never go broke" bankroll management? ****ing UIGEA.

Basically this.

If you havn't had a downswing of at least 40K playing everything-ish online your super lucky.

yeah. Reading this thread is really making me think about what ones bankroll management should be for online tournys in this day and age. Assuming a reg is playing 1-2K of tournys a day abi of like 140 probs need a br of like 100K?

Not trying to have a whine but watching SFD the other day i see him win 2 flips and a 20/80 to finish it off.

I look back at times i won an MTT, i obv think i played well but when it comes down to it you just need that run good in 1-2 crucial moments to ship. eg, like 13 left in DNG sunday i had T9 on T9xdd board and lost to Q9dd, I win that and i have the chip lead by far with 12 left, instead i limp into final table and get 7th. If you play enough volume you will inevitably hit that heat.

This is all obvious stuff but im kinda reminding myself. Not to take away from SFD being a sick human, but im sure there are a lot of players out there on the cusp of having some decent scores.

def agree, but its not only those flips. its also what you do in the meantime to get often enough in a position where you need to win those 2 or 3 crucial flips

i think someone said its "timex theory" that good mtt players never get to become good mtt players cause they never win that important flip for that important score.

think thats bs. bcause of the amount of MTTs running per day. In live MTTs, def. On-line if you play over 20K MTTs you should be able to hit some good scores.

Shipping majors however means you run good, if you are playing good or running good, it depends the player obviously. But winning enough daily MTTs should do the job to be defined as 'good' mtt player.

yea pretty sure i worded it wrong, but the point is if you win a big flip late you make more money than if you dont

If you start your carreer with a huge down you might never play 20k mtts..

Who the phuck plays 20k mtts? Even dudes like daize, which played everyday literally of 2010 put in <10k....and he played all buy ins. For a reg who maybe play 4 days a week and 5-6k mtts a year, that's 3-4 years. Also, depending on when you started poker could have a huge effect on your win rate. Poker is absurd with mtts. Basically have to grind all day 5/7 days of the week just to hope you can even try to run at expectation, and even then you have to pray you do.

sounds about right. this is assuming ur 100% certain u have a decent edge in all u play and are willing to move down if u dust off like 70k.

I'm currently in like a 100-120 bi downswing with an ABI around $5. Really sucks bc it feels like it will never end and when i finally do bink, im just going to be paying my backer makeup which sucks imo.

$12k at a $22 ABI, so about 550 BI's

Just ended it with a chop in the 64k last night for $12k.

fun game

yah it always amazes me when ppl don't crosspost articles from blogs that were written earlier in the day!
