Hello all,

I'm thinking about starting a annual tournament in Wisconsin. I was told that to hold official "Legal" tournaments part of the buy-in must be donated to charity. First question, is this true?

I've always wanted to do something for my cousin who has autism and who has made tremendous advances throughout her life and I love poker so this would be perfect.

How do I proceed? All advice is welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks in advance

It sounds like you should contact a charity and whatever the relevant gaming licensing board is in your state, ask for answers, then hold the tournament. You can find a free poker tournament director clock online, i'm sure you know how to buy/rent chips or tables if need be and then figure out what you want the structure/payouts to be and set them up accordingly.

don't teach the autisms poker, or games will dry up faster than the colorado river

Not that its the particular info you are looking for, but, Matt Stout has a charity poker thing (CSOP) that I do believe he started or is affiliated with. You could try contacting him (allinat420 or something of the sorts on here, mattstoutpoker on twitter) and see'ing how he went about it and maybe he'll be able to point you in the right direction.

I'm not sure how much I can help, but, if you do need some and can't find anyone to help you, let me know and I'll do as much as I can.

good luck and take care.
