Sb vs BB on a final table bubble! Sb vs BB on a final table bubble!

I was in a MTT late with 10 to go 9 made the final table. I was in the BB with 263k and the SB had 365k. He had been shoving on my BB every single time the situation came up! I had A10o and he shoved again! I tanked and figured this hand had great equity against his range! I called and he had K10s, he flops a king and sends me to the rail! I was wondering if the fold made more sense or was a better line because of ICM! Thanks for the help in advance!

You're fundamentally misunderstanding ICM.

Anyhow, if he's jamming 100% into you then any ace is a snap call. Just got unlucky. Not worth a post really. You should read up about calling ranges with short stacks.

Technically, if he's always jamming from the small blind you want to be calling more than 50% of your range, as you have to defend a half a BB. In actuality though, you won't want to bust with nothing, but after him doing it a handful of times in a row, I'm happy going with any PP above, say, 77 and any K and any A. Might call QJ and Q10 too, depending on if he really is jamming ATC and depending on stack depth (you haven't said how much is the BB).

Two important factors you're leaving out. What were the blinds and what were the other stack sizes at the table(s)? For instance if you're on a healthy chip stack and say there's another player in jeopardy of going out soon I may pass up on an otherwise +ev spot. If I'm 40bbs deep and there's a guy at either table with 5bbs or less I'm biding my time.

Now if I'm sitting on fewer than 20bbs and I'm a shorter stack or stack sizes are all similar I'm more willing to take what should be a decent spot to double up given the range of the opponent shoving every hand.

I had something very similar happen in a tournament last week. Final two tables (more than 10 players) and we had 2 players sitting out. The overall chip leader kept shoving half the hands attacking the dead money. I was 3rd in chips but this guy covered. I ended up folding some hands I wouldn't had the circumstances been different even though I knew there were times my range was likely ahead of his. I ended up facing the guy heads up in the end and won within 10 hands when he started with a 3:1 chip lead. He went back into shove mode and then I was willing to call with a wider range where I wasn't earlier.

It's not a daft question - this could well be an ICM fold depending on as Strappz says blind size and other stack sizes. If for instance you were 2nd and V was chipleader this would likely be a fold.

Ok there were 2 tables with 5 players on each blinds were 10 and 20k with a 2k ante and one of the ten had 187k which was slightly less than me, chip leader had 1.2 mil everyone else was sitting about 400-500k

Under those circumstances, I beat his money in the middle. Unlucky run out but you want a guy all in as a 4:1 dog for all the marbles.
