Re: Chainsaw Poll: Choose your tournament
From the LA Poker Open Thread
Brainsaw, the formatting is not ideal for your analysis the blinds/ Antes are 1st Players left at the end of the level is the next number, Big Blinds at start of level, and then Big Blinds at end of level.
A few Notes
1. Not ONE complaint from the players (Stepfords) about the structure and there were MANY compliments including from Adam Levy, Melissa Hayden, Amit Makija, Vivek Rajkumar, and Barry Greenstein, (NONE of them Cashed BTW). It is easy to just get the people that cashed to give accolades and all of them thought the Chaisaws complaints were ridiculous (Including @PaulESmith1970 and @Bru009 Brian Brubaker.
2. We only went below 50 big blinds twice and both times only to 49 BB's
3. Day 1 lasted 10.75 hours (started on time with 15 minute breaks every two hours and a 1 hour dinner break), Day 2 lasted 10.33 hours going from 55 to 9 players
4. Final Table Lasted 6 hours 9 to 3 players and the chop was made with 95 Big Blinds Average and could have gone MUCH Longer as Tommy Luong and Jeff Clayton both had well over 100 BB's.
5. My structures do and will continue to focus on giving people play where it matters most....Mid to Late
6. Please re read article

Seriously Allen YOU are the ONLY one that complained about this and in the LA Poker Open I received a lot of compliments!

Re: Chainsaw Poll: Choose your tournament
Half the field out by level 5 (one hour levels) for a $2,000 buyin event seems very high to me. I may be in the minority on this.

Re: Chainsaw Poll: Choose your tournament
well, i would assume that if more people are gone on day one, there is more play into day 2 and day 3?
and the less people gone on day 1 would mean the structures are quicker towards the end?
does that seem logical?
if so, id take LA because id rather not waste my time mincashing....but you know....to each his own.

35% of the Field was in through satellites and I am sure that has something to do with it.

Re: Chainsaw Poll: Choose your tournament
I don't mind any of the three structures but I like the Venetian's the least. Really I have to pick the Commerce event because of the lower juice. Borgata may have a slightly better structure depending on what you are looking for in a structure but really, I prefer to bust day one then to make it to day 2 and not cash if I have a choice. And lower juice is better for all players - you can always adapt to the structure at hand.

Re: Chainsaw Poll: Choose your tournament
I don't understand the mentality chainsaw and many others have in MTTs, touranments should all start with their normal number of chips(5k-50k or w.e), start the blinds at 100/200/25, and then have a sick structure after that, in Amsterdam tournaments had like 25-25, 25-50, 50-75, 50-100, 75-150, 100-200 and 150-300 before antes kicked in(with only 3500 starting stack in the one event), and then became crapshoots after that by constantly cutting out levels, yet somehow I think chainsaw would have preferred those structures.
You're supposed to be playing this game to make money, not to have as many hours as possible logged at the table

Thats why I posted all the factors. It was nearly impossible to find out the juice at Venetian since it wasnt printed on any literature there. I backed into it from the prizepool information on the clock.
