Alright, just wanted to have some idea of other ppl as well about the situation:

500$ HU FTOPS, top 64, already ITM. Villain is Gettin Daize, who i dont know IRL and havent chatted with him anywhere, but I obviously know who he is. We've been playing for like 20 mins or so when he gets disconnected. What u doin here? I know that HUSNG regulars have their own ''rule'' for this according to stevesbets but wasnt sure what to do. I just sat out and he came back in 5 mins when we were playing a couple of hands and got diconnected again. I sat out again and he came back in 2 mins. Then he diconnected the 3rd time, i got bored, stole a couple of his blind, he came back in a min then i lost a flip and 22 to 99 and busto. I just had some bad feelings about the whole thing and was curious about other players idea. I asked some other Hungarian players and they had different opinons, Belabacsi said that he would sit out, some others said no.

Sorry if this kinda subject has been already discussed.

ps. what felt pretty bad that he didnt even say a thank you after the match, i mean maybe he wasnt watching chat but still...

u steal his blinds, and u steal them rapidly

if u sit out u gain karma points but karma points are only redeemable for sklansky bucks so you really aren't gaining anything

if its a friend or a guy u know u sit out cuz why would u do a friend like that?

i only sit out for people i am reasonably positive would sit out for me if the situations were reversed

if you're not certain that the opponent would sit out for you to return, don't do it. Obv sit out if its someone you know/have chatted with etc.

but since you said you havent talked to him or w/e, you just know OF him and couldnt be certain youd get the favour returned, steal away!

i believe mement_mori played HU sngs for a while and he would say to blind them down unless positive that they would sit out for you

i sit out and never even think about stealing. at the end of the day, if i feel i won by cheating or being shady id rather lose - im really shocked everyone is saying steal away

thanks for the feedback guys. whats funny is that i used to grind HUSNGS up to 500$ on some euro sites where i usually played with donks and have been stealing their blinds everytime they disconnected as when i disconnected everyone else did the same against me. but i had no problem with that as it was grinding and i didnt get excited about losing one sng or not. butt

an FTOPS HU tourney is a pretty sexy one IMO so i was thinking that i would hate my life if i lost with being disconnected. i just had a feeling that this is a basic respect for an other mtt grinder (not sure if he viewed me as reg or a random)

This conversation has been brought up a ton over the past several months (and even years). I agree that I would sit out for someone I feel would do the same for me. I also think that it is reasonable to sit out the first time they disconnect regardless, but in a HU tourney where blinds are going up every so often we may be losing our edge by letting the blinds move up.... Therefore once he disconnects again, raise away

You cannot assume that a random will sit out for you. Therefore, if you are sitting out against a random, you are cheating yourself out of money. It is not "cheating" in the sense that you are breaking a rule. Some may view it as unethical, but at the end of the day I believe that people are responsible for their own equipment and connection, and if it fails then the other is fully within his or her right to exploit that unfortunate happening.

(I am ok with a gentlemen's agreement if the two know each other or play regularly against each other, and I would do the same, but would never do it for a random, nor would I expect the random to do sit out for me either)

i wouldnt even sit out for my mom. its ****ing poker. the object is to do whatever you can (legally) to take the other persons money...

I think a HU tourney that runs a few times a year is different than HUSNGs that run 10 billion times a year. I'd sit out, I don't really give a **** if I'm losing EV in the long term doing it.

why do you think it's relevant how often it runs? it's the same scenario we discuss when someone disconnects heads-up in a regular tournament

as a person who studied the philosophy of ethics in university, i would not hesitate to steal like crazy. not doing it is practically soft playing.

What distinguishes the infrequent big buyin tournament is what is potentially at stake and the unlikelihood of the issue recurring and thus things evening out over the long term. I agree it's similar to HU in a tournament, I'd sit out there also.

Are you guys all blinding out your opponent in the final match of the WSOP $10K HU?

I'd expect my opponent to not blind me off in most cases...

The live analogy is kind of silly. But like someone said its just part of the game and you need to be responsible for your own connection. I dont expect anyone to do it to me so I wont do it for anyone else. Karma is bs anyway.

Give me a break with the responsible for your own connection on FTP. I dced there like a dozen times yesterday with a rock solid connection.

There are like 12-15 ppl I'd 100% sit out for. Everyone else probably getting blinded off, but I guess it depends on my mood. I made that list of 12-15 based on people I know in real life and threads like this so I hope some of you saying you'd always sit out aren't leveling me!
