Re: ** 2012 World Championship of Online Poker -- Tentative Schedule Thread **

Hey Bryan

I like the schedule. The major leaks I find are: 1) Sunday 9 because there are only two events and 2) the absence of Super K.O. events (which I think worked v well in SCOOP).

Another suggestion: it would be good to have special prizes (such as a separate leaderboard with its corresponding prizes) for WCOOP 2nd chance events. This way you might get more casual players to play these events.

Event 13 - 06:00: $215 PL Omaha H/L [6-Max, 1R1A]
Event 29 - 06:00: $265 NL Omaha H/L [6-Max, Knockout]
Event 36 - 14:00: $530 FL Omaha H/L
Event 51 - 14:00: $320 PL Omaha H/L
Event 57 - 17:00: $215 NL Omaha H/L [Ante Up]
From an Omaha 8 player's perspective, I think it's kinda out of the blue that you would introduce the Ante Up as a format of choice to represent NLO8 at WCOOP.

While this tournament has been gaining popularity + exposure by being a WSOP event in NLHoldem, I don't think there is nearly as enough NLO8 games that run in this format. Before Black Friday, there used to be 5-6 NLO8 Ante ups running and after the schedule was revamped (still Pre-Black Friday), 2-3 of them were removed and the result was 3 of these tournaments as part of the tournament schedule. As of this date, the 3 remain in the schedule and do not attract near the number of runners a freezeout or rebuy would attract.

In my opinion, the better way would be to run a 6-max and a 9-max NLO8 with one of them being a rebuy/second chance event. If you think KOs and 6-max are better together, then make the 9-max a 2x chance.

Alternatively, you could make the 9-max a KO and have the 6-max as an unlimited rebuy event.

I trust the decision making ability of your team, please change the Ante up NLO8 event.

Literally couldn't have worded my own or the O8 communities opinion better than this.

+1

If you're going to introduce a new format, don't replace the existing one (FR NLO8), just add another tourney (whether ante up, 6 max, 1R1A, 2R1A, or even Big O). Generally I'd prefer no (or as few as possible) rebuys.

Also, would you please, please consider moving the 6 AM ET MTTs to more North American friendly times? O8 is probably as/more popular than any non-HE game, but a good portion of the players are in Canada/Mexico. If you moved the the 6 AMs to 11 AM that would be wonderful. Thanks!

It would be great to see a $2500 NLH event somewhere in the middle of the series.

in their peaktime yes its a good addition, but most grinders will still get up @ 3-6am australian time to play any of the events like previous years.

Add some events on the saturdays and sundays, espesially the ones that only have 2 toernies.

And like someone mentioned, 10hours is enough for day 1s.

I don't see anything I'd specifically change. I'm glad there's a bunch of NLH events.

Re: ** 2012 World Championship of Online Poker -- Tentative Schedule Thread **

Looks good. My $0.02 worth for improvement:

(1) More events in the $1k-5k range - see below*

(2) Make a reasonable number 2 day events

(3) More emphasis on weekends (eg have 4 events on weekend days, 2 on weekdays). There are currently 4 days with 2 events, all sats/suns.

(4) Focus the weekend events mainly on NLH (and possibly PLO) which recreational players are more likely to play - have most of the minority events during weekdays. (For example there is no full-ring NLH on either of the last 2 saturdays). A pro/enthusiast who gets one chance a year to play a decent 2-7 draw tourney will play on a Tuesday, a recreational NLH player who has to go to work will not.

(5) Start the bigger buyin/slower tourneys earlier in the day (currently the other way around in many cases)

*My main point is about buyins. There are 62 events split as follows:

$320 or less: 43 events (o/w 20 NLH)
$530: 8 events (o/w 4 NLH)
$1050: 5 events (o/w 4 NLH)
$2100: 2 events (o/w 0 NLH)
$5200: 1 event (o/w 1 NLH)
$10300: 3 events (o/w 2 NLH)

Total: 62 events (o/w 31 NLH)

A few of these are rebuys etc so there is effective understatement there but my point is that to make the series more special, make it stand out from the regular schedule and give more kudos to winners the buyins should centre around $1k whereas they currently centre on $200-300. We can play lots of events in this range in any week of the year. Obv sats should be available and some events should have smaller buyins but imo the distribution should be shifted more towards higher buyins.
