Voting is just the easiest example.

I think level guessing is another one (i.e. I don't think player X would say Y as a wolf so he's a villager imo)

And there are other examples- it's just basically anything that has to do with overthinking any peripheral details about what people said/did instead of extracting the overall vibe of all of somebody's posts meshed together.

Also FWIW pretty much every wolf lynch I have seen you push has stemmed from a tone read (according to me) so suck on that!

Holy ****, you're just ridiculous.

1. Contradiction
1a. Logical contradiction
2. Forgetfulness
3. Emotional inconsistency
3a. Emotional consistency
4. Fake emotional consistency
5. Lying
6. Truth
7. Simultaneous identical conclusions
7a. Simultaneous opposite conclusions
8. Meaningful votes
9. Meaningful votes against
10. Effort
11. Attention span
12. Aggression
13. Lack of aggression
14. Who died
15. Who lived
16. Who is soft-cleared by the death
17. Who is implicated by the death
18. Reactions to mechanical facts
19. Role-specific typos (often pronoun mixups or direct object mixups)
20. Knowledge of accumulated tendencies of a player
21. A new tendency of a player
22. Strategic efforts to gain "time"
23. Fake AFK
24. Real AFK
25. Role-specific volume habits
26. Deference to "superiors"
27. Disrespect for "superiors"
28. Confidence in the face of "superiors"
29. Incentive alignment
30. Incentive dis-alignment
31. Inappropriate emotional response to situations
32. Detrimental decisions
33. Lack of analysis
33a. Provision of terrible analysis
34. Violations of known meta
35. Display of known tell
36. Intentional avoidance of known tell
37. Reaction to discussion of known tell
38. Assessment of genuine belief
39. Obvious disingenuous belief
40. Frustration under pressure
41. Glee under pressure
42. Inexplicable reversal of beliefs
43. Explicable reversal of beliefs
44. Line analysis
45. Spew analysis
46. ALL variations of "level" analysis
47. Wolf behavior analysis based upon known wolf team members

There are probably 100 more if I sit here thinking long enough. As far as I can tell not one of these is based on "tone" in a vacuum, and very few are purely mechanical.

Your understanding appears to be that everything is a "tone read" but the facts of an NK (who died) or lynch (who voted), or I guess a seer peek (which isn't analysis) . . . which just means tone reads are all reads in your world

which means the term means the exact same thing as "read," which makes it perhaps not meaningless, instead only utterly useless and confusing

And before someone starts mouthing off about that list, NONE of those necessarily mean WOLF or VILLAGER in a vacuum, they still have to be applied in context and to the personality / style / etc. of the person in question.

These are all more tone than not (as well as others that less so lean in the direction of tone imo)

Like taking 1 for example, it doesn't MATTER if an espoused "tone reader"'s reads contradict completely. He doesn't care about that as a villager.

How the **** does someone's decision-making being dis-aligned with their incentive to win the game (as a villager, for example) have 1 thing to do with the tone of a post?

Only if tone means everything from how often and frequently you vote to how often you yell at people to how hard you wagon people to how mad you get when people don't listen to how much you're the center of attention to . . . ad infinitum

or only if "tone" in that usage means "everything," which it shouldn't

brosephus, i already defined tone for you: it's an arbitrary label for any read that stems from your subconscious wrt somebody's posting style. it can really be anything, but it is especially something that is indicative of somebody's emotional state (i.e. aggression).
