Re: The Well: Metsandfins

Do you think workers would be better off without the unions as they exist?

i am not sure
i was 11 when Marino came up and I think i became a fan right away. My dad is not a football fan so i had no influence there. I cried when Marino lost the Superbowl.
My first football game i went to live was at Giants stadium -- Jets Dolphins. Marino and Obrien both threw for almost 500 yards each. jets won in OT 51-45 after a controversal out of bounds pass that was ruled a catch

It would probably have to be the Mets winning the world series or the Dolphins winning the Superbowl. Probably the mets if i had to pick

There was rebuys/addons for the first hour. I made it past the break in great shape and added on. There were probably 80 people left and i was top 5 in chips. Another player at my table was too

First hand after break ... i raise in early position with AK hearts. the other bigchip stack calls.

Flop is 3 hearts 5 heat 7 hearts. I bet, he raises me all in, i call with the nuts ldo

Except it wasnt the nuts apparantly. This douchebag had 4 hearts 6 hearts for the nuts. And i am first person out of the tourney after break

From that point on i am so so so so so aware of straight flush possibilities

Best poker memory?
Winning a tournament of 150 people at the Borgota. It was the most incredible feeling of my life

They have been tough to watch since Marino I admit. They had a few decent teams, but it hasnt been great. Wandstat was the worst coach in the history of football. Jimmy Johnson was way too arrogant

But i still have lots of fond memories of the Marino/Shula era

Book -- not much of a reader believe it or not

I am a huge Kevin Smith fan -- i think Dogma and Chasing Amy are problem my two favorite movies of all time. I like mostly comedies -- adam sandler, woody allen, mel brooks etc.
In non-comedy movies -- hmm
Goodfellas, The Natural, The Departed

Music -- Styx is my favorite band of all time. I like Rush too. I am a big fan of 80s hair metal bands -- Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Metallica etc and i like Classic Rock bands -- The Who, the stones

i dont like much of todays music. I actually like Avril Lavigne a lot though.

For the most part yes. Unions really only protect bad employees imo. So if you are a bad employee, sure unions are good. but for the average joe, not so much. Most union jobs do not give raises based on merit, so it causes people to strive for mediocrity

I never met Brandi, so i dont know if you would call us friends
We never spoke either. But we did use to PM each other a lot.

I found one of the Brandi threads when they first started and couldnt believe how mean people were being. I honestly felt bad for her -- plus i thought she was hot. So i defended her in a thread. Then i started pming her -- i helped her when someone made a fake myspace page in her name to try to scam people out of money and helped get that page closed down ... and then we started just pming each other

When she died, i was honestly upset. Cause i guess i feel like i did know her, even though i didnt. I felt awful for Jenn and Brandon and again, people were mean to them and calling them hypocrites for saying nice things about her now that she has passed.

I do think that the message boards must have contributed to her suicide, which is a horrible shame. I agree she brought a lot of her criticisms on herself, but it is still a tragedy that it all ended this way.

After she passed away, Brandon PMed me to say that Brandi really appreciated every time I defended her, and she used to tell him that. That really choked me up. He thanked me for at least making her smile every time she read the 2+2 boards

Companies like Walmart and Target would close an individual store if a Union somehow got in it -- to prevent it from spreading to their other stores
this is so genius

I am not good at remembering the names of the games. There was a game where i was the seer and lived about 10 days and won the game for the village. I really enjoyed the MISHMASH where i was the terrorist and shorty was on our team = spook was the godfather for like the 3rd time.

Herbie saving Shortys ass in the Playboy game was one of the ballsiest greatest villager displays i have ever seen.
