Welcome to POG - a sticky including misc info, sheep/peehs & Thunderdome info
Welcome to POG!
This forum is primarily for playing interactive forum-based games and puzzles such as Werewolf (Mafia), Sheep, 20 Questions, etc.
There are other forums to discuss Video Games and Chess and Other Board Games. The chess forum is new (as of March, 2009) and those topics have previously been covered here. POG is sometimes used to get people together to play an online version of a board game. That is still allowed here. Flash Games are sometimes discussed here, but they are also posted in Laughs or Links. There is a sticky thread there linking to many games.
POG Championship:
The POG Championship is a series of games that began in 2008. The schedule is available here and the standings are posted here. Signups are open to everyone regardless of prior participation. Signup threads are posted prior to the start of each game.
Pogchat:
We have an AIM chatroom called "pogchat". You can join simply by inviting yourself to the room.
Various Links:
Please let me know about any sites that you use which are relevant to this forum and I will add them to the list (note: werewolf links will be placed in the werewolf sticky).
Two Awesome POG created videos:
POG's Music Video
POG does Princess Bride
Mods:
The active mods of this forum at this time (January 2011) are gtpitch, legend42 & Zurvan. If you have any questions or concerns, send a PM to one (or all) of us.

Re: POG General Info, POG Championship, and Miscellaneous Stuff
Becoming a POG game mod -
If you run allot of games, you may like to make use of the functions available to members of the 'pog game mod' user group.
Members of this group are able to lock threads in pog that they are the OP of, and can send up to 8 pm's at a time. These are very useful for running WW and other games.
To request membership of the 'pog game mods' group, go to your private message page. On the left, between your PM box and the usual sidebar with the list of forums, a second sidebar will appear. Within that is the section 'networking', select 'group membership' from that section. The next window will allow you to request membership of the 'pog game mods' group.
Soah and I don't have a need to check the requests very frequently, so be sure to shoot him or I a pm that you have lodged a request if you want it seen to quickly.
Please note that just because you ask for membership, your request will not be accepted unless you actually are actively modding games here on pog.

Re: Peehs/sheep schedule and diary.
** SHEEP MODS AND PLAYERS PLEASE READ THIS **
As of now, brand new accounts cannot send pm's. This is a new 2p2 policy to prevent PM spam.
We want new players to be able to participate in sheep games, and all other aspects of pog, therefore we have a new user group set up, which new accounts can request membership of, which will allow them to send pm's before meeting the criteria for site-wide pm use.
If you see anyone posting in a thread that they cannot send pm's but want to play, please copy/paste the following into the game thread for them, thanks -
To enable a new account to send pm's, first you need to become a member of the pog messages group. Doing this is simple.
Above the first post in this thread, you will see a My2+2 clicky, with a dropdown menu that appears when you click it. From that menu, please select "contacts".
In the page that opens up, in the second sidebar, under the heading 'networking', select on the option, "Group Membership". From there you will see a list of usergroups available here on 2p2. Check the circle next to the 'join group' in the 'POG Messages' section. Now click the 'join group' button below.
You have just requested the ability to send PM's!
Could whoever copy/pastes the above into the game thread them please send a PM to me, soah, Legend and VR letting us know to accept it, because we won't be checking for requests multiple times a day. Thanks!

Re: Welcome to POG - a sticky including misc info and sheep/peehs info
See below for rules on sheep/peehs.
Please post in this thread if you start a peehs, post a link to the question thread, and a deadline for submissions.
If you wish to extend the deadline, please post that itt.
When you have closed the game to submissions, please post that itt too, at this point I will delete all posts pertaining to your peehs/sheep.
This way, there should be one place where people can go to look at all the open peehs/sheep, and it will be nice and simple.
I will delete all other posts in this thread apart from posts listing currently open sheep/peehs, so the thread should only be a few posts long at all times.
Feel free to post about other people's games, if there is an open game that isn't here, please post it. If a gam,e has ended and the game is still 'live' itt, post and let me know, even if it's not your game.
Also feel free to post any suggestions about the implementation of this, these posts will not be deleted for a few days for people to see them.
If this is a success, we can look at adding it to an existing sticky, or giving it it's own.

you can help your peehs/sheep stand out by selecting this icon when posting your OP.

Sheep Rules
This is a rough draught and if anyone wants to make a more comprehensive set of rules post, please do and I'll copy/paste as required.
The aim in sheep is to match your answer with as many other players as possible. There is no such thing as an incorrect answer, so if someone asks, 'name a mountain' and everybody replys, 'phil Hellmuth' then that was the best sheep answer.
Reverse Sheep Rules
This is a rough draught and if anyone wants to make a more comprehensive set of rules post, please do and I'll copy/paste as required.
The basic aim of reverse sheep (often called peehs) is twofold. First it is to answer the question correctly. The second is to pick a corrcet answer that the fewest number of players will also answer. The game is a combination of trivia and levveling.
The ultimate goal is to get a correct uniqe answer, for which you score 1. If you anser a correct answer that 1 other person answers you score 2, etc. The winner is the person to get the lowest overall score.
There are various ways of punisghing incorrect answers, and each peehs op should state their method. Ask in the thread for clarification of anyrthing you don't understand.
