gambit8888 with Superman by R.E.M.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxQS6lfn0yU

The other band that contended for the sheep but started trickling in too late to topple the RHCP juggernaut was R.E.M. This is the first of two entries. It has a cool sound and melody for sure; R.E.M. can generally go either way for me. Wish it had another minute and developed a bit more lyrically, but whatever, this was a solid listen and I will certainly listen to it again.

Killer Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody would be my 1/2 by a mile. Somebody To Love probably top 5. I Want To Break Free not in top 10.

Superman is a really solid song, probably not in my top 10 REM, but I grew up listening to a ton of REM that didn't involve Superman, so I'm sort of biased there

Yeah Chris I'd drop Break Free too, and definitely move Don't Stop Me Now up.

As someone who up and transplanted across the country a little over five years ago because I was dissatisfied with what home still had to offer, this song hit well for me. Really good stuff, from melody to lyrics to theme, and edges out the other R.E.M. entry in this category.

Man I always had Somebody to Love as the worst Queen song (and it still manages to be decent).

Haha, well, I also prefer trying to submit stuff the mod hasn't heard over going for the easy marks Tear is super legit too

I like "I Want to Break Free" quite a bit. Admittedly haven't given much thought to an overall Queen power ranking, but my initial guess is that it would be a top 10 Queen song for me.

jonnyd with Scenes From an Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel

I usually like Billy Joel's style, and this song is no exception. I dig the vocal, I dig the piano and sax interludes, I dig the lyrics. It's a long song that delivers throughout instead of feeling overly long. I only wish that legend was here to tell me how smug this song is.

Somebody to love is so obviously my top song for them. What a goddamn great song, and criminal it didnt crack the top ten billboard. As soon as I saw that, I knew it was my no doubt choice

vginaman with When I Paint My Masterpiece by The Band
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq2e7DPhyHg

This one drew me in nicely. Fresh way of framing the struggles of trying to make it (I think; but I'm appreciative of the ambiguity as well). It was one of the early ones I listened to when I started working on today's reveal, and it was the strength of the lyrics that brought me back to it...the sound grew on me from the first listen to the second one, and probably bumped it up a solid five spots or so.

UD if you have that as the worst Queen song then you definitely need to experience some Queen "greats" like Thank God It's Christmas

LKJ, you got my hopes up after the earlier REM reveal that I'd go a bit deeper, but definitely no complaints. I was tossing up between that, Cuyahoga, Fall On Me and I Believe (all of which are from the same album, as is Superman, funnily enough), you know, just in case you need to listen to more music :P

Part of the Break Free hate is that ad campaign Lotteries Australia ran, which you're prob old enough to remember? Got so goddamn sick of that song. Being as objective as I can I don't think it's that great a song tho.

This one took some growing on me, but it did enough on first listen to cause me to listen through in full again, and I like it a lot. Interesting lyrics and a good tune to match. If I was doing a blind listen I would not have guessed this to be The Kinks.

Nah, there was nothing stopping me from going home a couple of years ago after already having lived in Indiana for a few years. I chose to take the bar in Indiana instead of WA.
