Re: Team SavageTilt - Survivor: PoGStars
Working through the states question in my mind. I think Australia will have the majority of the spots on the list, as its a huge country and only has a few states.
I think pretty much all the major ones have to make the list in terms of area size. Western Australia, northern teritory, south australia, new south wales and Queensland.
Those five should all be on the list I think.
The one that most people forget is Nunavut in Canada. Its the huge northern part of the country where nobody lives and contains a huge amount of land.
I think only Alaska will make the list in the States. Possibly Texas. Texas is like less than half the size of Alaska though.
Ok, so...
Western Australia, northern teritory, south australia, new south wales and Queensland in Australia. Quebec, Nunavut, Ontario, Brtish Columbia In Canada. And Alaska in the US.
Ill have a bit of time later to look at the other ones. I spent a good portio last night thinking of these.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE (NO RESEARCH ALLOWED)
Only one tribe may win immunity. The rest of the teams will head to Tribal Council tomorrow at 7pm EST (ALL COMMUNICATION MUST CEASE IMMEDIATELY) and all votes must be in by midnight EST, at which point I will reveal. Any HII must be played between the 7pm and midnight period.
Trivia Questions: (According to Wikipedia/whatever source I happened to look up). You get a point for each right answer, as well as an extra point if you get it in its exact spot on the list (except for the sports category). Highest points wins immunity. Lists must be PMed to me UNORDERED.
Geography: What are the 10 largest provinces and states by total area in the USA, Canada and Australia combined? See above, though I just realized that we get points for them being in order and they arent. That will be a lot more difficult, but Ill come up with a decent order by EOD
Sports: The Greatest Single Seasons Ever (give the name of the player who is first in each category):
MLB OPS+Bonds 2004 season was actually his best, and the answer here. , ERA+Nobody is even close to Bob Gibson in the modern age
NBA - WS/48 LOL basketball
NFL - TD’s Brady, ldo, Passer RatingI remember seeing Rodgers broke the record last year
NHL - Points Per Game If this is anyone other than Gretzky Ill eat my hat, Save Percentage Blues goalie Brian Elliot set the record this year.
Soccer - UEFA Champions League scoring, World Cup scoring Know nothing about soccer. Go Euros!
Tennis - Highest ATP points ever Sampras would be my guess, but I don't know
Golf - Most wins in one year on PGA Tour Byron Nelson obv.
Music:Name all the studio albums of U2 (by year)I know a few, but somebody else will be better at this than me
Movies: Name the top 10 all-time movies in worldwide, inflation adjusted gross Krayz said this was changed to domestic, and since Im playing in the box office game, I did quite a bit of research before that game started. Gone with the wind suprised me by being number 1. That one i know for sure. The next few I am pretty sure are on the list, though I am unsure about the order. Star Wars:A new hope. Et, the Ten commandments, snow white, Titanic, Jaws, and the exorcist. If I had to guess on the others, we probably want to stick to older movies since it is inflation adjusted. I would probably guess the other two stars wars movies, Empire strikes back and return of the jedi. Ill try to come up with a good order for these later.
Buisness: Name the top 10 companies in terms of revenue world wide I assume this is for 2011, if so I do know there are at least 5 oil companies in the tops ten. Exxon is and always will be #1. Shell, Chevron, BP and ConocoPhillips are in the top ten as well. Walmart is an easy guess. I am unsure of the rest. Microsoft and apple both make sense though
History: Name the top 10 largest empires in terms of land area in recorded history These are all educated guesses. the British, Russian and Spanish empires are all huge. The Tang empire in China made a lot of noise. The mongolians should be really high on the list. As well as the Persian empire. France took over a big portion of Europe for a time, so their empire should be up there. There are a few more in China, but Tang is the only one i know off the top of my head.
Tiebreaker - How many songs has the Dave Matthews Band played in concert over their entire 20+ year career? LOL, 28000
Sample Entry:
Geography
Name1
Name2
Name3
…
Sports
MLB – name1 and name2
…
Music
Album1
Album2
…
Etc.
Final Entries due tomorrow at 7pm EST

Yes, Qing and Yuan were the ones I was thinking of. I think the Ming, while well known, was fairly small. Same with the Romans, they didnt take over a large portion of Europe. The rest of your empire list I agree with.
As for companies, Facebook isnt big enough yet, same with google. Pfizer is a good guess, but I don't know if any pharm compsanies are in the top ten. all those are in the low billions, and you have to be in the 100 bill + range to rank in the top ten.

Re: Team SavageTilt - Survivor: PoGStars
For Tennis, last year Djokavic went off and I think the historic season he was rivaling was one of McEnroe's, so I'm guessing the answer will be one of those two.
Also, I can definitely get more U2 album names if I think about it but I'm not totally sure about the years.

Re: Team SavageTilt - Survivor: PoGStars
in terms of confidence. I have no doubt I am right in all the sports questions I answered.
I know for sure GWTW is number 1 domestic movie, and Im fairly confident in the majortiy of my list otherwise.
With Ezak's help, I think we have almost all of the empires.
I am certain all five oil companies I listed are in the top ten. I think there may be one more but cannot come up with a name. If anybody else can throw out some possible oil company names, it might be there.
The funny thing about the Geography question is that looking at a map, Texas seems like its an easy put, but I really think we need to leave it off. There is so much northern expansion in the provinces that they are much bigger than they seem.

Re: Team SavageTilt - Survivor: PoGStars
Isn't Canada much bigger than it appears to scale on a map/globe? Probably smart to be cautious with Texas, although Alaska has to be a lock. Would Greenland qualify for this list (not sure who "owns" Greenland, but it's ****ing giant. I'm a total fish at geography and non-US history).
Really impressed with people's levels of knowledge ITT.

Re: Team SavageTilt - Survivor: PoGStars
Greenland is owned by somewhere in Europe, does not count as a Canadian province
