What do the diamond and asterisk mean?

Diamonds are awarded by the game mod to super special answers. Asterisks are awarded by the Sheepulator at random.

So I think this is as good of a place as any to tell this story:

Yesterday I'm helping out with a cub scout chess tournament. 30 kids playing 5 games of chess and there are gold, silver and bronze medals to be given out. There are individual medals and team medals and usually a bunch of ties and so they have a lot of medals and like to give them out.

1st place was tied between 2 players with 4 wins and a draw each and the next best result was by 3 players who had 4 wins and one loss each. Then there was some guy who got 3 wins and a draw.

Their initial idea was to give gold medals to the 2 guys in 1st place and then bronze medals to the next guys and nothing to the last guy I mentioned.

I convinced them to give out 2 golds, 3 silvers and a bronze. I convinced them to have an Alice podium.
