Scattergories peehs Scattergories peehs

02-18-2017 , 02:05 PM
Hey POG! It occurred to me the other day that Scattergories is pretty much peehs. I’m calling it Scattergoies peehs for $tats purposes, but will be (pretty much) following the scoring rules of the original game.

I hope to have three rounds, assuming there is interest. The winner will be the player with the highest combined score after three rounds. Of course, players can play in any number of rounds they wish.

Rules of Scattergories below, if you've never played or need a refresher.
************************************************** *************
The game consists of 12 questions which are similar to sheep questions. A random letter is chosen, and then every response must begin with that letter. You are trying to come up with a unique answer for each question. If you match another player, you score zero for that question. Unique answers score one point. In the official rules, rounds are timed to 3 minutes.

The first word must begin with the randomized letter of the round. The determiners "a," "an" and "the" are disallowed in the game even though they might be part of an official title. (The Godfather counts as "G" not "T") Extra points (2 max) are given for names or terms that begin with the same key letter, including "Ronald Reagan" or "Brady Bunch." When choosing a person, either the first or the last letter of his name can qualify as long as the part of the name that carries the key letter is written first. Players are not allowed to use the same word twice within a round.

************************************************** ***************
You can try to come up with creative answers that may be a borderline fit for the category. In the real game, all players vote on whether the answer is acceptable. In this case I will make the determination if your answer is acceptable. If you have time, feel free to include a brief rationale after your answer if you want to influence my judgement.

To play:

State “in” in this thread, or send me a play request via PM. I will PM you a list of questions and the randomized letter for this round. Your response will be timed, so do not open the PM until you are ready to answer. You will receive the bonuses / penalties below based on the time it takes for you to return a response. If you receive PM notifications via email, please be careful to avoid opening any PM emails until you have officially answered the questions via PM.

Depending on the letter, it may be quite difficult to think of an answer for all the questions in a short time frame. If you can't think of an answer for a question, please be be sure to put "?" or something on the line so your answers don't get off set.

Time bonus / penalties:
Two minutes: +1 pt
Three minutes: +0 pts
Four minutes: -1 pt
Five minutes or more: -5 pts

*If the PM is opened at :42 and sent by :44, the time will be considered “two minutes,” even though it could be a long as three minutes with optimal PM opening/sending timing

Obviously, don’t spew anything itt about the questions or the random letter.
Probably reveal on Feb 22nd

Good luck!

Not fully understanding. It's Peehs, but highest score wins?

I think you only get scores for aces, everything else scores 0

Yes, Priptonite is correct.

It's only "peehs" in the sense that Scattergories is somewhat similar to peehs.

Sorry, I should also stress that blanks or invalids score zero, not the sheep score.

Maybe I shouldn't have called this peehs......

Barring double letter bonus, you can only score 1 or zero

This is definitely not peehs.

But it's a really good idea.

So I check that everything's quiet in the house before opening the PM and it is.

A few seconds after opening the dog goes berserk for some unknown reason (probably some suspicious looking leaf was in the garden).

By the time I'd calmed her down I was already over the 5 minute limit so I went away and thought about my answers for a while and submitted WAY over the time limit.

If you consider it an angle then DQ me if you want, but otherwise just give me my 5 point penalty and see how I do...

Sorry, tough break.

I said "five minutes or more" to allow people to think as long as they wanted, but at heavy penalty. You are not DQ'd

5pts is fine by me

just want to make it clear that it was an angle or circumstance more than intention
