This would have done a lot better if it were just an instrumental, I think, but again, this was a tough category with only one song that I disliked.

It’s certainly unique and a pretty risky selection. The vocals in the chorus irritated me quite a bit, and the regular vocals didn’t really do anything for me, but musically, I thought this was fun. I was super curious what their other stuff sounded like, based solely off their name, so I clicked on a related song on youtube and, again, it didn’t really do anything for me. I didn’t really care a whole lot for the song, but it wasn’t as bad as it placed— just a deep category.

This song is a victim of a pretty solid group of songs being submitted for this category more than anything. I feel kind of dirty for putting this so low, but whatever… it wasn’t top 5 so who cares, really?

It just didn’t really do it for me. I find I need to be in the right kind of mood to listen to this stuff, and wasn’t at any point that I listened to it?

14th Place: 6 points

This started up pretty high, but I just kept deciding that other stuff was a little bit better over and over. I initially liked it quite a bit, but I dunno.

I’m not sure if I’m missing a goofy instrument in here, or if I’m just supposed to consider a laptop with DJ software and a dubstep thingy and a voice modulator to be good enough. This all sounds pretty digital to me though.

I'm rooting for anti-podium for myself now. Ain't no one else that deserves my points.

I wanted to like this so hard. The instrumentation at the start was awesome and I felt like I was in a movie, but then the guy started singing and the fun music stopped and I just couldn’t wait until it was over. But then the music started again and the cymbals crashed! But then they stopped and he started singing again and I wanted out again.

So much potential for a big instrumental finish that I thought everything was building towards too. Pretty disappointed. Maybe I don’t get it.

This was kind of tough to place. It was okay I guess (my gf really liked it fwiw, which bumped it up a bit), I just felt the transitions to-and-from different parts of the song were awkward. I thought I was going to really like this during the intro, but at :45, I out loud said “What the ****?”, because he killed any momentum he had for 5 seconds. Then after the first chorus he does it again. The song just doesn’t really flow I guess. Chorus is a bit of an ear worm though.

The horn section that kicks in during the second verse is nice though. I’m kind of curious to check out some other stuff of his though. I’m sure I’ll find something that I like in there somewhere.

So this was pretty powerful, and probably could have been submitted for the video category, even if it’s just a slideshow made by a fan (at least I think that’s what I’m seeing/reading in the video description). This lost a few spots on second listen… not sure why (spite, probably). Again, pretty deep category here, so there's a pretty small gap between this one and, say, 5th place.

I liked the strings at the end though. I like how the violin can come across as kind of a sad instrument, if that makes sense, though maybe it’s just the notes that are hit correctly that causes that.

10th place: 12 points

Pretty well-known and instantly recognizable. There’s certainly a redeeming quality about a song that just ****ing everybody knows, whether they know the title/band or not. I’m sure everybody in the world can hum along with this one.

I think actual [redacted] gets a pretty bad reputation— I’ve never gotten sick off of it, and it tastes pretty good. If you’re ******ed enough to shoot anything 20 times in a night then you deserve to be puking all day the next day, so it’s not [redacted]’s fault.

Absolutely. It's the best alcohol for shooting. "I make bad decisions when I drink tequila!" More like you made a bad drunk decision once, blamed it on tequila since it was among your drinks that night, and from then on only drank it on nights when you were feeling self-destructive in the first place.

9th place: 15 points

Similar to GnR from the last round, I think I overdid it with [redacted] as a youngster, so they don’t do as much for me as they once did, but still get a pretty good reaction from me. I think “[redacted]” by the same band off of [redacted] would have been a better choice too, with what I believe to be a cello throughout the song.

Having said all of that, this is still a pretty good tune that’s held up over the years. The intro has always irritated for some reason that I can’t really explain, but it definitely has that classic [redacted] sound. They definitely **** around at the halfway point with, among other things, a rubber duckie, so this definitely fits the category.
