I hated Rush at first. Absolutely hated them, which is weird cos I love bands like Dream Theater.

Then I heard this. And hated it. But it grew on me...hence why I submitted it here!

Category #9 - Show 'Em Some Love

Submit a metal, country, or R&B song. Or something along the lines of those genres. Because I feel like they get underappreciated around these walrus parts.

Score: 5.8

Pretty meh.

In 18th,

Adam submits Me and My Uncle by John Denver

Score: 6.3

Quote:
omg, that twist at the end. Kinda uninteresting otherwise.

In 17th,

Nego submits Old Man by Ensiferum

Score: 6.4

Quote:
Don't really care for the first three minutes. I do admit that I sometimes have trouble getting into folk/viking metal... Might just be that. After that, it's kinda decent.

In 16th,

xander biscuits submits Death To All But Metal by Steel Panther

Score: 6.5

Quote:
lol. So many burns.

In 14th,

Dave submits U Remind Me by Usher

Score: 6.8

Quote:
Decent and Usher sounds great as I'd expect, but kinda think the instrumentation holds the song back at times. Like in the chorus.

In 14th,

Gadarene's GF submits City of The Refuge by Abigail Washburn

Score: 6.8

Quote:
Kinda okay sometimes, I guess.

In 13th,

Godorene submits Handcuffed to a Fence in Mississippi by Jim White

Score: 6.9

Quote:
Man, this song. With its crappy chorus and good everything else.

In 12th,

NeedMoreManasi submits Moth Into Flame by Metallica

Score: 7.0

Quote:
Okay. Song gets better at 3:00.

In 11th,

Walrein submits 炎のたからもの [2013 ver.] by Yuji Ohno & Lupintic Five with Friends

Score: 7.3

Quote:
Decent. Could've been a little more interesting. And isn't this jazz?... I'll allow it, I guess.

In 9th,

gbsfranca submits 6/8 by blink-182

Score: 7.4

Quote:
Well.. not sure how 'metal' this is, but I'll accept it just because I've been dying for some hardcore-like metal stuff and this is probably the closest I'll get. Great drum work. Love the hardcore-like back-up vocals. Think the chorus could be much better. Wish blink-182 would put out more stuff like this.

In 9th,

soah submits Wine of Aluqah by Therion

Score: 7.4

Quote:
Liked the choir vocals (mostly the male ones). Cools solos. This would've scored higher had they not completely flipped the mood of the song for the outro. It was jarring in a bad way for me.

In 8th,

Owner Of A Lonely Heart submits In Hell I'll Be In Good Comapny by The Dead South

Score: 7.5

Quote:
Cool banjo/cello combo. Liked the vocals. Whistling is kinda annoying so not that.

In 7th,

CrimsonFox submits Country Sweat by Oingo Boingo

Score: 7.7

Quote:
Liked the instrumentation here. Liked the vocals. Yep.

In 6th,

Jmurder3 submits Scumbag Country by Hellbound Glory

Score: 7.8

Quote:
I like this song. That's about all I have to say about it because I'm a scumbag and can't come up with more.

In 1st,

Bloobird submits Nobody Can Love You Like I Do by Amanda Jo Williams

Score: 8.6

Quote:
These vocals are... unusual. Downright goofy but I thoroughly enjoyed them. The song definitely has the right tempo for complementing them too. Song tries to be fun and succeeds, imo.

In 17th,

soah submits Enamorada by Miranda!

Score: 6.3

Quote:
I originally had this much lower but it grew on me a tad. I like the singer's voice. I guess I had a problem with the chorus being too sweet or something. Still not totally in love with it but I can tolerate it now.

In 16th,

Bloobird submits Break (All of the Lights) by Childish Gambino

Score: 7.0

Quote:
This is decent but eh.. I still prefer the original. Yeah, the rapping is probably better here but the instrumentation feels less impactful and that's more important to me. Some pretty nice lines though!

In 15th,

gbsfranca submits With You, Friends (Long Drive) by Skrillex

In 13th,

rtspurs submits Kalimankou denkou by Bulgarian Television and Radio Folklore Ensemble

My liking of this is kinda too dependent on what my current mood is for it to score any higher than this.. but when I am in the mood, it's pretty pleasant to listen to.
