I love White Man In Hammersmith Palais dearly - I'll only yield here to fnord and maybe not that if he hasn't listened to the song for a decade. But I don't see it as a fit for the category.
Yes, ofc, there's the angry half verse about the mod groups selling out punk linked to the realpolitic of 'our' dictators/'their' superpower dictators being ceremoniously welcomed. But it's not really their most inspriring stuff politically - mainly because most of the song is a loving portrait of Black West London 'youth' culture in the mid-late 70s - hence the descriptions of gigs/soundsystem gigs and peans to Delroy Wilson et al which dominate the chorus.
