The raise to $100 pretty much was an all in. It worked, but not playing in a casino in a few years and wanting to see flops made me call pre.

Hand #3: A few limps, I limp in the SB with J9o (there's a pattern), BB checks. 5 players.

Flop: 932 (2 hearts, I have none)

I bet $7, BB calls (has about $80), MP calls (has about $100), 2 folds.

Turn: (pot $27) 9

I bet $21, BB raises to $45, MP calls, I shove, BB calls with 9h5h, MP folds.

River: 3

And we chop.

Hand #4: 2 new players joined our table for an orbit who seem very splashy. Main villain in this hand seems gambly, while the other has gotten AIPF with AA vs AQ (villain) and flopped 2 sets.

Splashy Villain (SV) rebought for $100 and has built it up to about $160. I cover. SV raises to $10 in MP, I call in LP with Jh9h, two folds, BB calls. 3 players.

Flop (Pot $27): Ah9x5h

BB checks, SV bets $20, I raise to $60, he shoves, I snap. He shows Qh7h, and I hold.

I assume that was good, since I had position on SV and we were 80BBs deep. Oh, and did I mention that J9 is my favorite hand?

Hand #5: I'm in the BB with QsQc and about $430 (my high point).

Two folds, loose-ish pre-flop fit-or-fold post MP raises to $11 (sitting on about $225), folds to me, I 3-bet to $33, he calls.

Flop (pot $63): Kx6s2s

I bet $45, he ships, I fold. He shows AK.

I think I bet too much on the flop and could have gotten the same info for $25-35.

Playing 1/1 in my local casino. Double straddled pot, I'm first to act with AA.

I raise to 12 and get 3 callers. Flop comes Q87hh (I don't have the Ah), I bet 25 and the SB, a young guy who's been moderately active and aggressive but not too obviously out of line, makes it 75.

One previous hand with villain, I opened AQdd from UTG for 6, two callers. Flop Q72r, I bet 10, he made it 28, I called. Turn 2, he bet ~40, I called. River blank went x/x and MHIG.

We started this hand with ~£350 effective, we're the two biggest stacks at the table. I've had two beers and been chatting a lot, but playing tight enough that I'm getting a bit of mild stick for it.

Hero should...

...have raised more to begin with (If the double straddled 1/1 games are the same sort that I have played in)

As played I'd probably flat and check call all future streets like a fish (because I am a fish)

perhaps I'd fold runouts that went or where another Q turns up

you have nothing but a bluff catcher. comes down to your read of villain, if you think he's bluffing a busted draw often enough to justify a call.

£20 seems about right to me

Should probable have gone more pre, agreed. Double straddled pots weren't the norm in this game but did happen occasionally. Standard raises pre in unstraddled pots were to £5-8 and normally getting 1-3 callers.

If a blank hits the turn and you're checked to then I'd probably bet again, otherwise call his bets and check behind on hearts and queens

The double straddler is looser than the typical player (I mean he just double straddled) and he already has £4 in the pot, he's likely to call £20 almost as often as he calls £12.

Also from my experience people who play this sort of game often read big UTG raises as exactly AK and will often play to the river with any pair
