If you can't figure out what gimmick accounts belong to what posters then you have other WW issues to work on.
That being said it's pretty lame to use one. I'd only allow them for games where it's specifically desired to obscure the identity of players.
Pretty much like multiaccounting poker. Guess they are mostly used by people who can't hack it otherwise? Dunno how the games are these days.

I just take it upon myself to try and avoid them. If I find myself playing with someone who I think is a gimmick I'll ask. They can definitely lie which would be really lame but I think it's better than all of the alternatives. If I find out that someone lied to me about that I would probably never play with them again (not hyperbole).
The whole argument that everyone should know because it's unfair if some people know and others don't is kind of flawed. That's not much different from 2 people with prior history and one person who has never played with them before. Some people will always have more information about the field.
Forcing someone to disclose also seems weird to me because then what's the point of signing up with a gimmick at all?
