Can anybody confirm the trick that you are able to control Eevee's evolution by renaming your Eevee? For those of you who don't know/remember (this was me), Eevee can evolve into three different forms. Apparently, renaming your Eevee a specific name before evolving it will predetermine which form (it's usually random).

To get Flareon, rename it 'Pyro'
To get Vaporeon, rename it 'Rainer'
To get Jolteon, rename it 'Sparky'
(From what I read you must capitalize to first letter)

I just did it successfully with Pyro to get Flareon, but there is a 33.3% chance it was just dumb luck.

There's an extensive reddit thread about it. Last I checked it was proven to be right (there were some failures, but I think it was said that whoever failed it did something weird with the namings) but I'm still skeptical.

Doing about 40 evolutions later tonight with a lucky egg, have a few eevees to do, might try it

and fyi, Vaporeon is the evolution to choose. Think it was shown that its evolution gives the highest CP jump. lol flareon

I already have a Vaporeon from my first Eevee evolution (before I read about this trick)

Went from level 10 -> 14 with a lucky egg, roughly 35 evolutions

Tried the Eeveelution trick, got a Vaporeon

being a hardcore fan of the main series games my entire life, im just not as big a fan of Pokemon Go as i thought id be

I'm level 8 now and I got a freaking squirtle in the wild. I was so ****ing excited but i wasted over 20 balls as he was 200 and red and I was level 6 only and no berries.
I caught him with curved balls and nice shots but he gets out

Dammit, I love squirtle but I ****ed up when choosing my starter and I haven't found a single squirtle yet!
Derwi already has one...

It was dumb freaking luck... That's the coolest poke I seen in the wild and I haven't walked or travel anywhere cool or trail or parks.
I passed by the gym down the street, I stopped at the light and I looked at my phone and the spawn sound went off. I looked down and saw a weedle and then I saw a blue bigger thing the log turn green so I didn't get a great look but I tapped like a mad man and a freaking squirtle popped. I pulled over and wasted so many balls... I finally got him. He didn't run away and he was way out of my league with a red circle difficulty.
Now I have my starter that's only level 60 charmander and now squirtle who is about 200 so he is my main "cool" poke.
I also have a few 200-350 but the rest are way below 200

game is rlly fun but the exp it takes to level up after 20 is ***** huge

Status update: I still haven't caught them all

Just did the lucky egg mass evolution thing, managed to get 61 evolutions in (including 5 new Pokedex entries) and jumped from lvl 12 75% to lvl 16 90%.

Apparently it works but only for your first eeveelution

Did you read my earlier post, I already confirmed it. But it only work for your first Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon. So better to save it for when ur reach level cap and require the max CP eeveelution.

Caught another Dratini

Team still pretty sh*t. My Flareon is my strongest but does sh*t all in gym battles, my pinsirs are fodders. But blowing revives and potions in losing gym battles.

Out of the top ten, Snorlax, Lapras and Dragonite are all pretty hard. Blastoise, Golduck, Golem, Poliwrath and Slowbro takes some evolving to do. Vaporeon is awesome but need to get lucky with the eeveelution. I don’t want to use the name trick until I’m max level.

Realistically, unless I get lucky with a find n the wild. I will keep collecting Dratinis so I can have that dragonite.

Currently, water gun is one of the highest damage attack and finding a pokemon that can use it is pretty important.

Got a pokestop at work and it seems various coworkers take turns using lures on it

Got multiple dratinis and tons of psyducks and slowpokes and magikarps from my desk this morning; also a staryu

getting a great throw seems quite random

i think you're supposed to hit them on the nose part to get it but sometimes that doesn't work

also i didn't realize you can "hold" the pokeball and the circle gets smaller then really big

not sure of the point of that

You just answered your own question. Where your pokeball lands within the dynamic circle decides whether your throw is 'nice', 'great' or 'excellent'. If your throw lands dead center when the circle is the smallest, it will be excellent

I'm also annoyed it takes so long to catch a Pokémon. Need to be allowed to skip animations
