Is dress really more important than looks? Tshirt, Sports shorts or board shorts, flip flops is my summer attire might have to go out the window, what's more important tops or bottoms?

I'm not sure about the new poggers but the old poggers who were here when I started definitely dated/married an average of about 2 points up on the looks scale

Clothes matter.

Once you get to a certain age the eye basically has a sensor to detect clean and attractive clothes.

If you are wearing a brand new outfit people instantly notice and subconsciously it makes a huge difference imo.

Also you look better if your clothes fit you well

If you're going to the beach T-shirt + board shorts is fine, but it certainly helps to up your fashion sense. The difference between wearing a t-shirt + shorts all the time and having a good sense of fashion is definitely impactful from my college experience, girls didn't really start telling me I was hot until I learned to dress the part.

I'd say just find somebody who knows what they're doing and have them help you spiff up your wardrobe. It doesn't even necessarily need to be a peer, last night I went to Nordstrom and the girl working there was happy to assist and basically found me a variety of pretty rad stuff that I was seeking.

The most important thing is that you take advice from the right person and are willing to extend beyond your comfort zone. My college roommate was metro and had an excellent sense of style, so many times he would tell me to buy something and I would argue and tell him I'm not gay before relenting and then getting like a million compliments once I wore the clothes out. You don't have to push the envelope too far, but being a lil bit metro is def +EV.

Most 18/19 year olds have no idea what them well though.

It took a while to learn that I had to err on the side of my clothes being fitted to look good because I felt more comfortable w/ them being loose + baggy.

I think this is standard - when my friends were trying to tell me what fit I was like "WTF that doesn't fit at all it's way too small"
