so it is possible you think there is no chance he can add value to the pub, but you are presenting an alternative scenario which could theoretically allow him to be more engaging, pretending that is your perspective while secretly wanting him to go away?

or you think his current method is optimal, but you are jealous of his impact and post count and want him to switch to an inferior method to increase your relative (and possibly even absolute) impact

FWIW my MO is to find the truth and/or underlying objectivity in everything. If I think I have found it (or am close enough), I will present it as such.

Suffice it to say that it like never goes over well with people whose pre-existing biases and/or underlying assumptions conflict with mine. I'm currently learning to pick + choose my spots but on places like message boards there will always be a blend of people who are receptive vs not receptive to this.

i lost sleep thinking about who shamefully i behaved in the past. i decided i am not going to relive it right now. maybe i will write about it some other time. it's nothing insanely titillating or anything like that, just painful for me to think about. and i tend to dwell on it too much. it was almost all in middle school(age 11-13)
