But the thing is, learning to live together for the first year was part of what made it awesome.

I just feel like if you're living with someone and you haven't gotten married before doing so, you would be less inclined to look at her foibles as cute or sweet and just find them annoying and another reason you're 'glad we decided to live together first'. It all stems from my view of marriage being a beginning, not an end or just another step after having lived together.

Did we have some things that the other one found annoying, rather than something endearing? Of course, everyone has annoying habits. But we talked about them and made adjustments.

I'm sure people who decide to live together go through much the same thing, but from speaking with my friends who lived together long term as opposed to getting married before living together, they were more in the mindset of 'this is how i do this and if she doesn't like it, she'll just have to get used to it', rather than the more compromising mindset I felt like my wife and i were in (and still are).

I wouldn't be watching the starcraft though, I'd be looking for the LoL pit.

i'm with switch wrt living together before marriage.

it's that discovery of this person you love that is awesome. it helps you grow so much as a person when you adjust your small habits to fit into this new life.

You are right but your also underestimating how ingrained the Montreal Canadiens have been in my life. I've been loving them since I was 4 years old. One of my step dad's most treasured items is the Montreal Canadiens sign I made him in shop class.

My most prized possession in the world are the Montreal Canadiens memorabelia that my daughter gave me for Christmas 3 years ago. The Montreal Canadiens breed passion like no other sport team in North America. There is a course at the University of Montreal that studies them as a religion in the province of Quebec.

If you go to my dad's house, its covered in Montreal Canadien's memorabilia, same thing with both of my sister's houses. Its a tie that binds our family together.

To expand on how important hockey is. From the time I was 4 until 16, I literally played hockey for hours every single day of my life. In the summertime, we'd play street hockey after school, everybody on our street, even if we didn't get along or hang out in school, we'd still play street hockey together. In the winter times, when I wasn't playing organized hockey, I was playing at the frozen rink on the corner from after school until 10 pm when I had to come home to bed.

When I was 4, I wasn't allowed to go out and play hockey unless I ate all my vegetables.

no i get it. i'm a huge Duke fan and the Yankees have been ingrained in MY family since my grandmother listened to the games on her radio way back in the ice ages. i am elated & proud when they win.

but nothing in the world can compare to my children. maybe because i'm the mother?

I don't think you being a huge Duke fan and Yankees fan is anywhere near the same level tbh. The fact that you list two means you can only devote half the time to either one. If you see my edit, you'll realize it was the ONLY thing in my life. My life revolved around hockey and the Montreal Canadiens.

I can't imagine it. I don't think I'd ever make a sweater bet vs the Leafs.

I should but pog is such a time sink that I don't have time. I post mainly on hfboards for hockey and I'm in a fantasy league that is another huge timesink. Investigating prospects takes up a good chunk of summer.
