TrollyWantACracker is actually the artist formerly known as metaname2. I do think he's often hilarious, employing a very dry stylized type of humor that I find very appealing. But that cartoon name thread is not his best work, to put it mildly.

OMG...

A couple weeks ago I bought new 600 thread count sheets for my bed. Macy's had a deal on them and I couldn't pass it up. Reviews were great. Well...

Tonight I decided to put them on the bed. Argh. The smell of the sheets were bad. Bad bad bad. The sheets smelled like poop. They were clearly new but the manufacturing process left a smell that completely dominated the room. I figured I would just let them air-out. No dice. Now the room AND sheets smell.

I had to take them off the bed. I couldn't take it. They're now sitting spread out in the guest room. Oh and my bedroom still stinks. I have a fan blowing outside air on full blast.

I appear to have bought 600 thread count poop sheets.

This made me happy for some reason.

Mattress update:

Decided to take the pub advice and be flexible, told her she can pick it up on one of the days she wants and started mattress shopping. She messages me back saying she changed her plans and can't come on those days.

I give her 3 options
- sell the bed
- take the bed away now
- if she wants to keep using my room as storage and to pick it up when I'll probably be a lot busier, I'd need a month's notice if she's picking it up. Kind of regret offering this but I didn't want to be a hardass. If I'm not keeping the bed I'd rather get it out now.

She offers to sell the 2 year old $1200 mattress for $700. I counter $50. She says no thanks, tells me she's giving me my month's notice and will come in ~3 weeks to pick it up (no specific date).

Trying not to be overly demanding, but am I justified in being pretty strict at this point? Even if I tried to be nice, she could change her mind in 3 weeks again. I think I should demand that if she won't come take it away now I need to know the specific day she's coming to pick it up and it has to be a month out. Fair or unreasonable? Or maybe I should just tell her that if she won't take it away now it will go on the curb? I feel that's a bit mean but might be considered more standard than the current weird 'storage' agreement.

You still don't have a bed/mattress of your own? If so I'd send her a message saying thanks, it gives you the time to shop properly, but a) could she pin down the day better and b) you'll have your own in 3 weeks so definitely won't have room for it anymore. If she flakes again then I think you're golden to stick it on the street.

Yes. That was the point I tried to make in my last post. She seems like an airhead, so I'd make sure (politely) that she understands that leaving behind valuable property with a stranger is an airhead move and that she should put an emphasis on rectifying the situation because she's imposing on you and possession is nine tenths of the law. What she's doing is really rude.

I forget which state you said that you're in but I believe that each state offers free legal advice to tenants, and it might not hurt to a look at that. (I suggest this just because you seem really unsure of yourself, so at minimum this might help you to feel more comfortable with whatever you decide.)
