The world of art buying is really interesting. If I was being charitable I'd say it's less about the paintings themselves and more about the history and people behind them. But in reality I think it's more a giant, arbitrary circlejerk.
Do most of the people who look at the Mona Lisa know
why they're looking at it? Do they know that if they turn around one hundred and eighty degrees they'll see (IMO) a far more impressive painting? Probably not...
I'm sure Heston Blumenthal's restaurant is a fantastic experience, I'm just salty that it'll likely be years before I have that kind of disposable income. And I'll take any shot at Bloo I can

You would be shocked and appalled if you saw the places and food my parents choose to eat on the reg. Like, not even good guilty-pleasure fast food. It's like they try to find the worst bottom rung places to go to and then go to the same ones with no variation. Both of them would consider TGI Fridays "expensive" or "a treat". I'm a product of their upbringing (and cooking), so I don't value food as highly as most people do. I'm improving on my own, but it takes time.
