If a significant portion of my income was determined by how much I spent the year before and I was able to borrow money at below the rate of inflation then it's entirely possible that I would increase my spending in response to my employer telling me that my salary would be reduced next year
I know the question wasn't directed at me, but I felt like answering it anyways

Economically speaking...I think it's pretty funny that (smartish) Keynesians also want tax cuts these days. Use totally different mechanisms to arrive at the same conclusion FTW (obviously I shake my head in disbelive when I see how they arrive at this conclusion especially since those people are supposed to be well educated)

No, I'd get a new job.

Re: POG Politics Thread
The argument by intuitive appeal to personal financial responsibility seems sort of shallow to me. Not that it's entirely without merit but there are lots of good reasons why the correct answer to the question for me personally is going to differ from the correct answer for the government. There's also lots of hypothetical scenarios in which even the answer for me personally would change. It doesn't seem very useful as a guide to policy making to me.
That said, my answer, in rough analogy to what I was saying before, is certainly I would have to consider spending less. I would also strongly consider finding a way to make more money, especially if certain large parts of my budget were relatively inelastic.

Don't do that - I've avoided a number of questions here pretty much entirely because you've answered them as well or better than I could have - comparisons of national fiscal policy to household budgets just irk me for some reason

Re: POG Politics Thread
The American political machine moves on whoever is president. The president is basically a figurehead position much like the Queen of England. Money will have it's way in the end.

Re: POG Politics Thread
My parents are unabashed big-gov't liberals. The bigger the better. Big gov't for them is creating jobs in the Depression and enforcing civil rights laws in the South.
They're naive about Democrats and cynical about Republicans.
