The whole thing has been a massive own goal by all of the main political parties. The BNP couldn't have come up with a better publicity campaign if they had tried. All they needed to do was avoid commenting about Griffin's appearance completely, then send the usual selection of junior ministers and have them destroy Griffin by exposing his party's laughable policies on the main issues. I haven't seen the program yet but from the quotes I have seen, it looks like they turned it in to the BNP show. We trust these idiots to run our country...

Which is exactly why the alliance of the willingly peacefull needs to step in and get rid of these "from my cold dead hands" blabbering aggressors by regulating.

My desire to remove guns is indeed rooted in the fact that I am from a (gun regulated) peacefull society.

I come in peace, please don't shoot me.

I would like to add a followup question to all pro-guns folks eventhough I'm pretty sure noone is going to answer it because thinking about it for a bit will make them realize there's some contradiction in their thought process:
- Do you think the possession of atomic weapons should be regulated for so called "rogue states"/anyone?

swine flu declared national emergency

Re the BNP thing, it's shameful, but i really couldn't give a toss about uk politics atm. The Labour party is a total shambles and has wasted over 10 years of a solid majority to do nothing bar start a couple of wars, so the conservatives are going to be a shoo in at the next election, despite not obviously having any real ideas and representing a tranche of society that really doesn't need more say in the way the country is run; i find the majority of journalism related to politics/current affairs to be shallow and largely missing most of the point, what is in the broadsheets that isn't 'news' is self-serving drivel written largely by a fairly small circle of mediocrity (for some reason, Mariella Frostrup really gets my goat at the minute) and as for the rest of the popular press, don't ask; finally there's Europe, which is a cluster**** of such monumental noses-in-the-trough proportions that i actually can't really think about it for long. So as far as the BNP goes, yeah they're racists and no one in their right mind would ever listen to them, but really, who cares? They're a small wart on the nose of a really ugly crone.

But the question also includes ownership of huge weapons by an individual (regulated by the state he lives in) say some defense rockets in a launching pod on my lawn (after all the king of England is a Queen these days and rather advanced)

Why don't you just say what you mean rather than asking leading questions.

Oh and just for the heck of it I'd like to add the funniest/most interesting election thingy I've seen so far during our elections:

Translated text: if we don't hire more teachers our children will go find their own.

Wow. They have three guys to choose from to illustrate evil and they choose Hitler, Freddy Kruger, and Osho??? Osho??? WTF did he ever do to anyone, besides run some crazy communes and talk about peace and love? It's like putting John Lennon on there. At least Freddy Kruger stalks you in your nightmares and murders you in a bloodbath of horror.

I'm nonplussed.

Edit: Maybe it's just because he looks like a guru.

Cult leader Bhagwan imo
It's just completely WTF

Another fun fact the little slogan translates to "NRW (the state of the campaign) needs more tempo/adapt faster". Of course it's a pretty easy modification to change that to "more Autobahn" lawl

It's pretty obvious that it's a muslim-terrorist propaganda cartoon.

Any thoughts on the glorious elections in Afghanistan btw? All this money and blood poured into that country finally pay off, look how free and awesome the elections went.

if those elections were any more rigged Bush would have won

From last week's private eye:
Afghan Election Latest: Mugabe Wins Shock
In a surprise second ballot the Afghan Elections were won lby President Robert Mugabe, who secured 99% of the vote.
Said a delighted Mr. Mugabe, "The opposition parties led by Mr. Burlusconi only got 98% of the vote, thus proving the power of the ballot box - especially when you steal it and hit people over the head with it."
A dejected Mr Hamid Karzai, who only secured a desultory 93% of the vote, said that he was disappointed but surprised and delighted to have won
Strictly Come Dancing [Dancing with the Stars] instead. "There must have been a mix up with the votes, but it's been a remarkable journey and I am living the dream."

If this doesn't take the moon landing conspiracy theories and shoot them in the back of the head, the supporters have no desire to find the truth.
