While I would say that the proper place to argue either for or against the existence of this thread is not within the thread itself, I would also suggest that in order for it to have any chance to be something other than a net negative for POG we should all try to take a step back before we decide to refer to others views as disgusting.

But when Bush was named head of the CIA in 1975 right when the Church committee was starting to investigate some serious stuff.

Bush had said that he was never in the CIA until he was named director. There are many many reasons to believe that isn't true, the most important of which is a memo that J. Edgar Hoover wrote called "The Assassination of JFK" that names Bush.

Bush said it must have been referring to a different George Bush.

So far, one of the better explanations I have heard was that Joe Kennedy promised the mob favors if they would help his son get elected. In Illinois there was serious ballot stuffing going on, to the point that the electoral turnout for certain precincts was nearly 100% (some sources cite over 100% voter turnout).

Kennedy won by the slimmest of margins and Illinois was what put him over the top. Once he got into office, organized crime expected loosening of certain laws and when none of that happened, they got even.

I do not know who killed him, but as I said, this is one of the better explanations. The Bay of Pigs revenge killing is also a decent reason, but the death bed ramblings of one ex CIA operative don't necessarily mean anything.

You're not talking politics until somebody mentions the Nazi's. But no matter how strongly you disagree with mets' opinion (were you thinking about him being Jewish when you wrote that?) what you said is not conducive to discussion, and that's the sort of thing that belongs in the politics forum.
