Paper submitted on April 1.

It is unlikely, however, that heaven is a bounded manifold, since there should be no limit in heaven.

Sounds like something my mom would put on her refrigerator.

The first time I read this my brain read "there should be no lint in heaven"

thanks for pointing that out. I told my fellow librarian it was unbelievable. He reckons some of his pure maths buddies took it seriously.

Re: POG Philosophy and Religion thread

I am interested in knowing the personal reasons for POGGers belief in God.

Lets just assume for the moment that it is reasonable to actually believe in God or that it is a reasonable possibility that God/s exist.

My question is: Why do you, specifically, believe in God?

So its not really a personal connection.

Basically you believe in god because you think it is a good explanation?

Jesus talks about God the Father and the Holy Spirit, but the metaphysical Trinity concept as we know it started with Tertullian in the third century.

This was later formalized as an essential part of the faith by the First Council of Nicea in 325.

partially

evolution also cannot answer how it started no matter how much you argue it does

i do not believe in predestination

i think of god as a computer programmer, and we as the computers.

he talked about it throughout his life, or on the Sermon on the Mount?

A) evolution isn't at all a question about how things started, that's like saying gravity doesn't explain how our brains work.
B) God is also a scientific hypothesis just like everything else
C) Just because we may not be able to explain it doesn't mean that there is some sort of intelligent design to it.

i was asked why i believe in a creator

i gave my answer

just because you dont think it proves there is one doesn't mean my answer is not valid

atheists are more arrogant than orthodox religious people sometimes
