POG Introduction: About Sheep, Thunderdome and More (oh my)
In POG, we play a variety of games, including Werewolf, Sheep and its many variations, Guesstimania, Thunderdome, In/out, 20 Questions, Mornington Crescent and really anything else you care to dream up.
If you wanna talk about Video Games, check out the Video Games Forum. If you're after Chess or other board games, check out the Chess forum. There're also forums for Golf and Pool.
We are a community here, and we have various chats that you'll naturally become a part of. There is a POG Skype Chat, if you PM one of the green mods in POG they'll get you an invite. It is advised not to post your Skype details on the forum.
If you want to run a game here, don't hesitate to put up a thread! You need no credentials to play, just a good idea and a little bit of time People will be very happy to help you out if you need something. If you want to trial run a game, or run a small game, try running it in the Monthly Low Content Pub thread, you'll get responses there.
The current active mods are:
gtpitch, TimeLady, LKJ, and Noah
For an easy way to see what games are being run, check out the icon next to the thread title:

Re: POG Introduction: About Sheep, Thunderdome and More (oh my)
Games we play:
Feel free to start any of these games, modding is open and encouraged to all! If there is an icon on the left it's commonly used to represent that game thread
Werewolf: A forum text based strategy game. See the WW sticky for more information.
Sheep: The aim is to match your answer with as many other players as possible. There is no such thing as an incorrect answer, so if someone asks, 'name a mountain' and everybody replies, 'Phil Hellmuth' then that was the best sheep answer. (example: here)
Below are some variants of Sheep. They are still represented with the icon
- Reverse Sheep or "peehs": The basic aim is twofold:
- answer the question correctly.
- pick a correct answer that the fewest number of players will also answer.
The game is a combination of trivia and leveling, the ultimate aim being to get a correct AND unique answer for each question. Each correct answer receives as many points as the number of people who submitted that answer. The winner is the person to get the lowest overall score. (example: here)
- Kangaroo: Similar to Sheep, but you must put down an incorrect answer, answering a correct answer will score you 0. Highest score wins. (example: here)
- Second Best Sheep: Similar to Sheep, but the answer with the most people scores 0. (example here)
- Double Shot Sheep: Similar to Sheep, but everyone sends two sets of answers. (example: here)
- Alphabet Sheep/Peehs: The same as their counterparts, but you set 26 questions, and each answer must begin with a different letter of the alphabet. (example: here)
- CYOA Sheep: Similar to Sheep, except the mod provides clues to answers. The best way to get an idea is to look at a thread (example: here)
- Last Man Standing Peehs: Similar to Peehs, except that if a player hits the sheep X amount of times (X usually = 0 or 3), then they're out. Winner(s) are the last men standing. (example = here)
- Sporcle Sheep: The questions all stem from http://www.sporcle.com/, an online trivia site. You look at the % of people who got each answer for a category (i.e, "countries of the world"), and you need to answer something that was top 25% most answered or bottom 25% least answered of the responses (rounded up to nearest whole number). (example: here)
- Elephant: This is like sheep except each response must start with the letter the previous response ended with. (example: here)
Guesstimania: The idea of this game is to answer as close as possible to the correct answer. So for a question "how many days are there in a year" then the closer you are to the correct answer, the better your score. There are a variety of ways to score Guesstimania, each moderator has their own version. (example: here)
In/Out: States that are "in" are statements of truth. You cannot guess directly at what this truth is, you must make statements like those statements, and the mod tells you whether they are the truth or not. The truth is consistent and will not change through the challenge.
If you get enough 'truths' to convince me you know my 'truth' - usually 3 statements in a row that are correct - you become 'in', and have the same powers as me - but all 'in' people stick to the same truth, as set by me. The answer can be about word patterns, or from 'lists' from the outside word, or in fact any reasonable construct/pattern involving words and letters. (example: here)
MSPaint Games: Usually played by PM, you sign up and depending on the type of game, you either paint or describe the picture you get. No artistic skill is required, in fact, not much artistic skill is encouraged (examples: here)
Thunderdome: A topic is set, and your job is to name a correct answer. If you answer incorrectly, you're out! Simple as that. Topics can range from sports to geography to pop culture, anything you can think of you can have a topic. You can either do it list form (everyone answers in order) or scramble style (everyone answers at once, you go again if your answer was crossposted). (example: here)
20 Questions: If you don't know this game, it's really easy to pick up. Someone picks a person/place/thing, everyone else asks 20 questions total to guess who/what it is. Simples! (example: here)
Mornington Crescent: I'm not sure if anyone understands this game (example: here)
Trivia/Flash Game Tournaments: What they say on the tin. What happens in each tournament varies mod by mod, read OPs for more details. (example: here)

Re: POG Introduction: About Sheep, Thunderdome and More (oh my)
Forum Decorum
Note: This list is not meant to be all-inclusive. There may be things that will be punished that are not necessarily included in here and punishment is subject to moderator discretion.
- Do not hotlink pictures. Hotlinking is when you directly link to a picture from another website. Occasionally web hosting services will turn these pictures into goatse and other various disgusting pictures. You are responsible for pictures that you post so please use a rehosting service.
- On this line of pictures: NSFW pictures should be labeled as such and kept in NSFW threads. Do not post them in game threads, even in spoilers.
- Images that contain any nudity (male or female) may not be posted inline whether or not its in a spoiler. These images can be linked to so long as they are labeled as NSFW
- Stupid and over-repeated memes really aren't funny. Even if you think they are hilarious - they probably aren't. Posting "cool story bro" etc etc will get you infractions
- Do not do anything to evade the profanity filter. Just spell out what you want to say and let the filter do its job. Posting profanity that would normally be filtered in an image is also not permitted.
- Death wishes are not permitted. These include posts such as "you should kill yourself" or "jump off a bridge"
- Trolling is not permitted. This is extremely subjective so expect there to be some variance.
- Nested spoilers and page stretching are not permitted. Not only is not funny - its just really annoying
- Racism will get you infracted or banned
- Cheating will not be tolerated in any game. The rules of each of our types of games are laid out in the sticky and nearly every game thread also has the rules explicitly listed in the OP. If you aren't sure about the rule of something feel free to PM the game mod (the OP usually) or a forum mod (well named, timelady, gtpitch or soah). Cheating in any game on POG may lead to exile from POG or a permanent ban from 2+2.
To repeat: This list is not all-inclusive and there may be things against the rules that have been left out. As they come up they will be added to the sticky.
If you see a post that breaks these rules or you want a moderator to look at for any reason please report it. Simply click the button that looks like this to do that.

Re: POG Introduction: About Sheep, Thunderdome and More (oh my)
As of now, brand new accounts cannot send PM's. This is a new 2p2 policy to prevent PM spam.
We want new players to be able to participate in sheep games, and all other aspects of POG, therefore we have a new user group set up, which new accounts can request membership of, which will allow them to send PM's before meeting the criteria for site-wide pm use.
If you see anyone posting in a thread that they cannot send PM's but want to play, please copy/paste the following into the game thread for them, thanks -
To enable a new account to send pm's, first you need to become a member of the pog messages group. Doing this is simple.
Above the first post in this thread, you will see a My2+2 clicky, with a dropdown menu that appears when you click it. From that menu, please select "contacts".
In the page that opens up, in the second sidebar, under the heading 'networking', select on the option, "Group Membership". From there you will see a list of usergroups available here on 2p2. Check the circle next to the 'join group' in the 'POG Messages' section. Now click the 'join group' button below.
You have just requested the ability to send PM's!
Could whoever copy/pastes the above into the game thread them please send a PM to me, well named, gtpitch and ElliotR letting us know to accept it, because we won't be checking for requests multiple times a day. Thanks!
