POG, would you like to play a game?

This game is a trivia-based game that includes gambling aspects to make it more fun and even.

It needs exactly 7 players, but I will run multiple games simultaneously if we get 14, 21, 28, 35, etc players.

The game consists of 7 rounds, which are divided into 3 parts:

a) I post a trivia question that has a numerical answer (ie how many moons does Jupiter have?). Each player pms me their best guess. Trying to get closest to the actual answer without going over

b) I post the 7 answers (including who said them) in ascending order. I then apply odds to each unique answer as follows:
  • middle value (if applicable) gets 1:1 odds
  • 1 higher and 1 lower than middle get 2:1 odds
  • 2 higher and 2 lower than middle get 3:1 odds
  • 3 higher and 3 lower than middle get 4:1 odds
  • all guesses are too high gets 5:1 odds
c) Each player has 2 $5 pogs that they can choose to bet in a given round. They can bet both on the same answer (any of the given answers or "all guesses too high"), 1 each on 2 different answers, just 1 on one answer or no bet.

I then reveal the correct answer and pay out players that chose correctly according to the odds. The correct answer is the one closest WITHOUT GOING OVER

Note: The player(s) who submitted the guess that was closest without going over gets $10 bonus.

Each player has $50 in POGs to start the game. After 7 rounds, whomever has the most money wins!

To join, pm me your answer to the first question in the next post.

NO RESEARCH during this game

Jupiter Example to fully illustrate:

Question: How many moons does Jupiter have?

Submissions: 20, 23, 26, 26, 30, 35, 70

We have 6 unique submissions, so no middle value

odds:
26, 30 - 2:1
23, 35 - 3:1
20, 70 - 4:1
below 20 - 5:1

Everyone would now bet on 0, 1 or 2 of those answers as being closest without going over. They'd be paid out according to the odds.

Player a (who had submitted 30) bets 1 pog on 35 and 1 pog on 70.

Real answer is 63. So 35 is the correct submission and the submitter gets 2 bonus Pogs ($10). Player a gets back his pog for betting on 35 along with 3 more for the 3:1 odds. He loses his pog for betting on 70. So he got -10 (bet) + 5 (correct money back) + 15 (3:1 payout) = +10 net result for the round.

they matter because they may be bet on by yourself or others and because if yours is closest without going over, then you get $10 (2 pogs) bonus

also, the odds are determined by all the guesses, so your guess helps determine which choices get which odds

but yes, you can bet on whatever you want when the list comes out and you can win this game without guessing properly in any round if you place your bets optimally

Update:

In Round 7, you may bet as much as you want and have left in your possession, not limited to just $10 (2 pogs) like in the other rounds

Remember, you start with $50 (10 pogs)

So it doesn't matter what our original answer is right? Only the points/$ from the betting rounds count?

group 1 is underway and group 2 is almost full...pm me soon to get into group 2!

also, IMPORTANT RULE ADDITION: Whichever submission gets the most pogs bet on it for the round will get 1 pog ($5) bonus! This is to add some balderdashness to the game. So if your answer seems correct to others, that's beneficial to you.
