re: POG Community Thread
I told the check-in agents (there were two of them there to help me since no one was in line) that I was going to Las Vegas.
So they tag my luggage for LAX.
I realize this while glancing at my baggage ticket while on the first leg of my trip, so the first thing I do in Denver is to go find someone to talk to about this. She jabbers away on the keyboard and says she's sent them a note just to make sure it ends up in Las Vegas.
It landed in Los Angeles about an hour ago.
I'm not gonna elaborate on all of the delays, but suffice it to say that I managed to get moved up to an earlier flight in Denver and still got home 3.5 hours later than I should have, without my luggage.
I is not pleased.

re: POG Community Thread
yeah we were barely able to land there. needed half a mile of visibility and had half a mile of visibility. we had to skip the stop in Hays because there was less than a quarter mile of visibility there. worked out ok for me but not so much for the other 9 people on that flight who actually wanted to go to Hays.
also, I hate the Denver airport. It sucks. The runways apparently are nowhere near the terminals. It must have taken 15 minutes after landing to reach the gate. The interior is just as bad. Everything is so far apart.
ok, I looked at aerial photos and I'm right. There are runways stuck way the hell out there with tons of wasted land in the middle of it all.

re: POG Community Thread
So it turns out that I'm moving... all the way across the country, out to Phoenix.
This should be... something. BTW, moving sucks. How did I end up with so much useless crap? And why am I taking so much of it with me anyway?

I gave away or sold everything that wouldn't fit in my car, which included a 75 pound dog. I suggest you do the same. It's very freeing. Except without the dog, unless you already have one.

Kumu,
I was just thinking the same thing as we pack up our house to move. What a collection of junk I have!

You gave away the dog, or kept the dog? Hard to tell from your description.

I kept the dog. I need someone to go on bike rides with. She doesn't ride one though. She walks. Runs sometimes too. You know what I mean.

re: POG Community Thread
I used to live in a 2 bedroom apartment.
When we moved to this house (3 bedrooms, finished basement), we had enough stuff to fill it. In fact, it's still a little cluttered.
Throwing things out is good.

re: POG Community Thread
When my grandparents sold their three bedroom house in the Bay Area and moved into a 2 bedroom apartment in a retirement community in Kansas City to be close to my mom, they packed up everything that my mom and her sisters didn't want. They didn't throw ANYTHING away. True story: when we helped her unpack, I found an open, half used box of baking soda that she had carefully taped up and packed in a box. It was the really small box of baking soda. The kind that cost 19 cents. She probably spent more on the tape she used to close it.
Me, when I move, I throw out all that stuff and also anything I don't remember using for 6 months...including furniture, sometimes.

re: POG Community Thread
My date went well, although I'm not sure it officially qualifies as a date. We met at Applebee's, had some food, chatted about all kinds of thing for about two hours, split the check and then went our seperate ways. I obviously tried to pay for the whole thing, but she had a gift card with like $4 left on it that she insisted on using. I bought the rest, and then she made me let her leave the tip. Ah well. After that I thought she didn't really want it to seem like a date, but then I got home and she had already sent me a message on facebook thanking me for a nice time. So thats good. She's cute and nice for sure, and smart too. I didn't really get to see much of her sense of humor yet, but I'm sure I will soon, cause she said she'd buy me a drink next time we went out to make up for me paying for most of dinner.
Good things:
could hold a conversation for 2 hours without awkward pauses
smart
cute
pleasant
nice
will buy me a drink at some point
Bad things:
met there instead of picking her up
didnt let me pay for the whole thing (which would be good after a while, but I'd still like to pay at first)
she went home and i went to play rock band at my friend's apt
we both go to bgsu, so im sure ill be seeing at least a little more of her, and i will continue to post updates in here. overall a nice evening.
