"32. ...cxb5 is met by 33. Rc1+" is met by 33 ... Nc5, unwinning the Q afaics. The f6 pawn looks sexy, but the Black K is closer to the f file than the White K is to the h file. So without thinking it isn't obvious to me whether there's an obvious winner of the Rook endgame.

One of my favourite lines from Bill Hartston's "How to Cheat at Chess" is during a discussion of how to solve The Times crossword puzzle: if the clue is "Volume (early) on rook endings (4)" the answer is probably "Book", but if the clue is "Volume (early) on rook endings (7,3,9)" the answer is almost certainly "Smyslov and Levenfish" .. followed by a discussion of the merits of levened fish against unlevened fish.

Or 36. Qc8+ and then 36. ... Qd8, 37. Qe6+ Kf8, 38. Rc8 (and UD does win the Q ) anymove, 39. Rd8# or 36. ... Kf7, 38. Rc7+ Qc7, 38. Qc7+ Kanysquare, 39. Qappropriatesquare#.

But UD will see that when he arrives there.

Interesting that UD uses # not ++ for mate. Not sure when that crept in. Probably with chess journalists using computers
