So I would love some good film recommendations and thought I'd make a game of it.

PM me the links to trailers for movies that fall into specific categories and I'll rank them.

The point of this is that I want to find new movies so The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption is not the way to go.

About what I like

Here is a top 40 list that I made for another forum recently. Obviously don't pick anything from the list, but it hopefully gives you an idea of what I like:



To help with the categories here are some things you might want to be aware of:



White - Year of release
Purple - First released in this country
Red - Rating
Blue - Number of ratings
Green - Genre
Black - Metascore

The categories:


1). A movie first released before 1990
2). A comedy with fewer than 5000 ratings
3). A movie that was first released in a country other than USA
4). A movie with a rating lower than 6.5 but you think is really good
5). A horror movie first released before 1980
6). A movie which has a genre of either western, war or adventure
7). A movie with a Metascore > 10x its rating
8). A movie you think is great (free choice)

Get your entries in by the 5th of August

Are you ranking trailers or ranking movies? I don't watch trailers unless I'm in the cinema :/

And yeah, pretty hard to rank a movie just based on a trailer.

I will be ranking it based upon how much I want to see it. The more I want to see it the higher I will rank it. I might also do some other stuff like check out my criticker predicted score for the movie, but it will be mostly based on instinct.

I don't watch trailers either. Just submit the trailers for the movies you think are great and leave the rest of the worrying up to me. I'll probably end up watching all movies eventually and bump the reveal thread continually with reviews.

My lists aren't really the best movies, just my favourite. It's an irrational thing a lot of times and my list would look different if I made it again today. Dead Man's Shoes would still be pretty high though

Because sometimes a fantastic trailer can REALLY entice you and make the movie even better.

I'm going to watch the trailers and rank them based upon how much I want to see the movie.

This will be the walrus portion of the proceedings.

I will then sporadically bump this thread as I see the movies that were suggested and I will review them and thank/insult who suggested them.

Just finished watching Summer of Sam and I thought it was pretty good. Clearly a Spike Lee movie

I think it's hard to do this when you have a huge list of movies already laid out.

I keep having to come check back and make sure a movie I'm trying to submit isn't on the list.

It's a Norwegian film. Watched it the first time yesterday, was slightly impressed.
