lol bad lieutenant - there was a period of time when everytime i came home from the pub, that thing was on tv, and it was always at that scene. Either that or the whole movie if havey keitel playing han solo.

He was the character eventually played by Sydney Pollack, and of course the scene is nowhere in the film. What I've read is that it was intended to be part of Tom Cruise's paranoid fantasies about his wife with other men.

As far as the footage not being leaked, Kubrick was a notorious control freak, right down to the types of paper clips being used on set, and incredibly secretive- as was everyone on his staff. It's not hard to believe the footage would be destroyed or kept private, and the actual event completely under wraps. Either way, fun story to ruminate on.
