Masterchef Season 7 Draft - Puzzles and Other Games Forum

I know this is kind of a niche draft but MC Season 7 is starting June 1 and I thought it would be cool to draft teams (thinking no more than 5 players)

For anyone who is familiar with the show's format, scoring could be the following:

Winning a mystery box challenge: 30 pts
Winning a team challenge: 10 pts
Winning an elimination challenge: 15 pts
Runner up elimination challenge: 5 pts
Surviving a week: 5 pts
MC winner: 50 pts
MC runner up: 20 pts

Fun fact, just looked up the final 40 contestants, saw David Williams, the professional poker player

Yea that's the intention. Usually the first 1-2 episodes are the auditions, and then the first 'real' episode in the Masterchef kitchen has the final X players + a few who they eliminate during the first episode. At the end of said episode you're usually left with your Final X players (usually 18 or 20 iirc) so that's probably when we should draft.

is this show worth starting to watch if I alternate between enjoying and feeling tired of Top Chef, improbably loved The Taste, and am super-bored by Chopped?

I've never watched any of those shows.

I have watched Hell's Kitchen and have gotten bored of it over the years, while Masterchef keeps me engaged. I think mainly because the contestants are all 'home cooks' and winners are pretty much thrust into stardom (as far as chefs go) and it's really fun watching groups of nobodies evolve over the season

lol I watch Top Chef and Taste. Never been a fan of Chopped. Cutthroat Kitchen is better but have grown tired of it.

I used to watch Top Chef, Chopped, Iron Chef America. Don't anymore. Still record, but rarely watch, Cutthroat Kitchen.

Tried Master Chef a few years ago. Couldn't get into it. Same reason I don't watch HS basketball I think.

Tempted to DVR Top Chef now, though...& maaaaaaybe Master Chef.

It appears that Chopped Co-Star Aarón Sanchez will replace Graham Elliott as the third Masterchef Judge this season

gonna be weird without Graham. Really like the new girl though.

If you watch closely you can sometimes catch the contestants reading from written recipes

Yea there's undoubtedly a lot going on behind the scenes. I imagine not only recipes, but brief crash courses and sometimes even practice runs.

I mean they're home cooks and are often asked to do some pretty complicated stuff. Some times there are people who admit they are out of their element, but somehow they all know exactly how to cook everything
