Magic the gathering thread

I have found out a lot of poker players play or have played magic. So just for ****s and grins do you play? What format do u prefer? What decks are u having the mostof with/ most proud of?

I just got into serious legacy. I'd would play for fun but not competitive before. As of now its a dated goblin deck I'm using. My friends tag me as a aggro red style player but I just did an esper color deck that is raw and did a blue green black and a white red black deck as well.

Re: Magic the gathering thread

Dont what forum this should be in, this is the only one I visit

I play, have been playing for years. Want to be good enough to make the pro tour just once. Am not good enough but still keep trying

The decks I have done the best with are Greater Gifts and Teachings (I won a GPT while drunk playing this).

Before moving to New Zealand I needed the money so I sold all my cards so im having to start again. I now have a G/W/r Wolf Run ramp deck that I worked up to from my Brithing Pod deck.

I like to play control when its good but the cards tend to be more expensive/harder to find.

Re: Magic the gathering thread

I have some cards and I play with friends for ****s and giggles.

I find that the more serious the play is, the more boring it is. Pro decks seem to all be comprised of {game-breaking combo} + {bunch of cards to bring out game-breaking combo}.

Re: Magic the gathering thread

I played a lot from 94 to 98 or so

had all the power 9 and played type 1 before there was type 2

I've always been a blue player and played more counterspells than other counterspell decks

I still like the game but don't keep up with it

This is kind of true, problem is once you move up to that level its hard to go back to "fun" decks.

Now when I see a "fun" deck I just think "oh, you dont like winning".

I did play a deck that was kind of fun this weekend. Plays the 1 red mana to draw and discard 2 cards from the new set. Idea is put big guy in the grave with a flashback reanimate spell.

It was fun, when it worked it was really powerfull.

I went 1 win 4 losses

Re: Magic the gathering thread

I used to play a lot. I made the Pro Tour once, and was on a team with a Pro Tour Winner.

I had a hand in inventing/popularizing a few decks. One was called "Forgotten Orb" and another was called "Peaches and Stuff"

I go to prereleases these days for fun. Its still fun to play, I just can't dedicate so much time to it.
