Oh, whatever. I was hoping to avoid rants by not listing the four, but that didn't work out so well, I guess. I was thinking the set of those guaranteed to take it seriously was {atak, Elliot, Hitch, Nich}. You may belong in it too, but I expected you to joke around a fair amount of the time (which is not anathema to good werewolf play, I realize). Kokiro may, too, but I don't know his game well enough. I figure McAvoy will play hard when he's sober. Based on play so far, I may have been wrong about Elliot. RT doesn't play enough any more for me to assume he'll take it seriously throughout. And everyone else is a cub — they may play hard for years, but I have little basis for knowing that.

My estimate of four+ who would not really be playing werewolf was a round guess, and I didn't have anyone specifically in mind except as noted above.

In the community thread, biggerboat posted that he was leaving POG (or such was the implication), basically because according to him he gets wagoned early every game but there was also something about people not answering his questions. If he sticks with this, we may have our first dropout — based on the rules BPM posted, he'll be subbed out after he fails to post enough in the second quarter of the game.

Those who have been playing this summer: Is it true that he's been a punching bag of sorts?

When you fluff vote, do you often append "DUCY?" to it? Feels off to me, as if you had a reason but decided afterwards not to advance it. For example, I expected you to say it was to draw me into the game and force me to post, which given my last couple months wouldn't have been unreasonable (and is all I can come up with in terms of reasonable excuses, given that I hadn't posted yet). as far as the last few months, i havent played a long game in about 2 months, and only turbos on epic mafia.

fwiw, when i have a reason for my votes, ill post my reasons with it. i wont just say DUCY.

was i trying to draw you in to the game. no, because it was about 1 day in to a 365 day cycle. if you havent posted in about a month, then i will have voted to draw someone in to the game.

...I'm assuming that the post is in reference to HP b/c his lynch just occurred in there, and I haven't read the community thread, really, today, and there was no such post by BB last time I checked that thread.

...my limited comment, given the "don't discuss ongoing games" restriction, is that the force of his argument is somewhat weakened given that he was just lynched *as an evil* and not by a majority by any means (11/75 votes IIRC).

But has he been a punching bag of sorts? Yea, I'd say so. But not the only one. McAvoy is, as well. JG can be. dkgo, now that he's active again (?), seems to be verging in that direction. Luckay dances on the edge of that sometiems. Elliot seems to have been that in the past (or maybe that's just in turbos? I get the sense of this but haven't actually seen it as a pattern). THC may fall into this category as well. maybe BEG, too?

There seems to be something of an attitude that certain players should just be lynched early without regard to their actual roles in a game. I haven't done an analysis to see how often this is actually a wolf argument ("let's lynch BB, he's always a good D1 lynch") or how often it actually occurs (as opposed to getting talked about, jokingly, seriously, or some mix).

If/when it's *not* a wolf ploy, it's pretty terrible for the game. & POG. for POG, obviously, if it's running off players. for the game, because the village doesn't get mislynches to remake itself in its preferred image by voting off "undesireables". a mislynch is a mislynch. the village is not "better off without" someone who turned out to be a villager.

voting off mrs. buttons in Lost Wolves D1 was this kind of fundamental error, I understand now.

It's especially heinous when someone in this category turns out to be a village power role. & it's results-oriented to think it was a good idea when they turn out to be an evil.

my advice to BB would be to stick it out.

& to remember that you don't have to run faster than the bear to avoid getting eaten

I hadn't really noticed or I wouldn't have been joking about it this game (I only noticed him complaining baout being mislynched d1 in other games, not that it's been happening all the time).

I think that this sort of thing is more like that you can assume going in that SOME people just aren't going to get lynched d1, even if, say, the mod accidentally posted their PM saying that they were a wolf. As the number of players like that in a game increases, the rest of the players end up having a
much greater chance of getting lynched d1. Not much that can be done imo.
