So a lot of people went with this movie, which is understandable and normally I'd punish a bit more for obviousness, but the plain truth is this movie is legitimately top 3 GOAT and it uses the location so effectively, I just couldn't lower it any more.

Anyone who doesn't acknowledge this movie as one of the great pieces of cinema is so beyond the realm of ****ed-up-ness I can barely stand that there are people out there that ignorant.

It's so intimate but imaginative and raw but beautiful and free-flowing but tightly wound, you can go 100 years and not better it.

That said, it was an obvious selection, and if they were singled, I probably would have ranked at least The Conversation and Zodiac (two other amazing films about investigation and obsession) ahead of it. Sadly, people were answering The Rock , Mrs. Doubtfire, Kihnspiracy songs, etc.

Love Hitchcock. Love Jimmy Stewart. Watched Vertigo and couldn't understand the big deal. Rewatched it because I was sure I must be wrong, and it didn't improve on second viewing. Don't really like it at all, as much as I wanted to.

i love the shots of old san francisco and the bridge. lauren bacall isn't bad either

It doesn't crackle like some of the other Bogey/Bacalls and the visual gimmick is a little worn now, but I still like it and watch it all the time. Probably around Bullitt range.

There were a bunch of songs and a few movies that could have beaten it. Tell me why Primus is good, that's what I want to hear. I've seen them live twice. Watching a guy play bass is like my least favorite thing.

Primus is good imo

also, they were not the obv choice so props to whoever picked them

Vertigo is not even close to goat imo

its average at best

Oh nvm gambit I thought you had Primus, you had Wicked Game. Camper Van would have scored higher. Like I said, I just can't even evaluate Wicked Game as a song any more. I'm surprised that anyone who lived through the 90s can.

Well it all depends how you look at these things. Some people want to have their own taste critiqued and compared, which is perfectly valid. Other people submit to try to win (thus "pander") based on what they know about the judge. Neither is really right nor wrong. And the arguing over what's good and bad, worthy vs. unworthy, trite vs. inventive, etc. is what makes these fun.

There's a pretty strong difference between pandering and changing your submission to songs you think they're probably more likely to enjoy.

Legend, I kinda considered Looking Out My Back Door to be fairly well-known too but I hadn't really thought about it too much. Had never heard Wrote a song for everyone before

Also I haven't seen Vertigo, I assume this is a life leak?
