If you like good cop bad cop you should try out leaders of euphoria, an updated version with a much better theme and improved mechanics

When I played good cop bad cop I was thinking it would be deeper than it was. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of meaningful decisions but I was probably playing the wrong sort of game for my tastes.

Looking for recommendations a decent game to play for a complete noob to board games (seriously, all we've played is Monopoly/Cluedo etc, not even risk).

Only two of us so has to be suitable for a pair, and please not too complicated as my partner gets bored a bit easily!

Any help muchos appreciated

Erm...we play a lot of those real life escape rooms. She absolutely loves Monopoly, whereas I liked playing online games like Pandemic etc. She likes war movies but whether that would translate to games, I'm not sure.

She's looked at games like Settlers of Catan and said "that looks far too complicated" if that helps!

Good two player games are tough to come by. I really like Battle Line, the rules are pretty simple but its a bit abstract and might bore her. Backgammon same thing.

Ticket to ride.

Good 2 play, but also good for 3,4,5

I haven't played KingDomino but it just won the board game Oscar, has extremely simple rules, plays in ten to fifteen minutes, is recommended for two players so that's a good one. Patchwork too.

Have to disagree with this, there are tons of games that are good with two players.

For new gamers Kingdomino is fantastic. We've had it for a while now and am not surprised it won the SDJ. It's great for new gamers and experienced gamers alike. Quick to learn, quick to play but doesnt get tired after repeated plays. Also does really well with 2 or 4.

We just got Bärenpark and that works really well with two also. It's a bit like a more complex Patchwork (and can take upto 4 player). Spent yesterday evening making an awesome insert for it to hold the tons of tiles it comes with!

Pandemic is a classic for good reason and works well with two as well as higher player counts. Same with Small World.

Our favourite game is a two player game called Akrotiri, can't recommend this highly enoigh.

I could pretty much give a review of every game we own as with a few exceptions our entire collection is games that work well with two.

This list isn't complete but here is most our games with rating and mini review. The vast majority are suitable for 2 players, and that is how I have mostly played them.

If you want to play Ticket to ride with two, choose the Nordics map. Europe is too big for two.

Splendor is another terrific 2-4 player game that plays excellently with two.

I've never played any of these except Pandemic (which I don't like) and Small World (which I do). Will check them out.

Just looking at Kingdomino. Is it a bit short on player interaction?
Great Board Games - Recommendations and Discussion Quote
07-29-2017 , 11:49 PM
In Kingdomino, each player has their own board to place their tiles, but each "round" there are only 4 dominos available and as you take your worker off the one from prior round and place the domino, you then put the worker on an available one from the next round, so think of it like drafting tiles

And each domino has a number on it so the 4 are ordered and the order for next round is based on that

So in a given move, you are determining which of the available ones you want most, which one blocks your opponent the most and where in turn order choosing a domino leaves you next round

So decent amount of interaction with that even if the boards themselves are separate

7 wonders duel is great but if she thinks catan is too complicated it might not be for her. Really straightforward and easy to play though after 1-2 practice rounds

I think I've posted pictures of my dads out of control board game collection before, but I was at my parents' house today, and it's getting really out of hand.

Here's the main cache, but it spills out of the room and is infecting the rest of the house. He's semi jokingly talking about buying a flat to house it.
