Re: Game of Thrones 2: A Clash of Kings - A WW Mish-Mash Game Thread (July 30th, 2012)
A reminder:
Things this game will have:
- Unique, fun roles derived from the awesome source material
- Unique mechanics based on A Clash of Kings
- Based on ONLY the 2nd book/TV series
- Butthurt (probably)
- ITA Battles (You aren't required to be at your computer at a specific time for these!)
- Many factions
- Anti-claiming mechanisms
- Much strategization
- Med to High Carnage
- Large Player list (hopefully >50 to run everything I want to)
- Mod mistakes, but game integrity maintained (probably)
Things this game will not have:
- Spoilers from after A Clash of Kings or the 2nd TV season
- 100% Balance (probably)
- 100% similarity in roles or mechanics to the last game
- Boring or vanilla roles
- Character Claiming
- d1 deaths
- Outted gimmicks w/o location of what their main is
- Force you to know source material (though it is recommended)
I would suggest you not to assume things, roles, etc. will be or won't be in this game unless explicitly mentioned. That could be very dangerous. You have been forewarned.
Re: Game of Thrones 2: A Clash of Kings - A WW Mish-Mash Game Thread (July 30th, 2012)
This is a multifaction werewolf game based on the source material. There are Lannisters, Arryns, Starks, Tyrells, Renly Baratheons, Robert Baratheons, Targaryens and possibly others. Some are wolves. Some are not. Some are allied with each other. You will discover how things work as the game evolves. A good assumption is that these teams will be based on the beginning of Clash of Kings and evolve as they evolve in the book dependent on certain events.
Re: Game of Thrones 2: A Clash of Kings - A WW Mish-Mash Game Thread (July 30th, 2012)
The Map
There are locations on the map corresponding to some of the factions, if present, in this game. Each location gives the people in it that are a member of the controlling house in that region a fairly small ITA bonus. However most locations also have another side effect.
Here they are listed:
Map Locales
Winterfell
King's Landing
Casterly Rock
Iron Islands
Dragonstone
Qarth
Storm's End
Power (if your faction is from the region you get a small ITA bonus)
NONE
Everyone must fight if fight occurs here (close confines)
10% chance any NA performed on you fails
20% of your NAs going through regardless of RB or Angel
20% chance of you not dying to a vigilante kill
10% chance of getting an extra NA the next night
25% chance your NA or DA fails, 30% chance to dodge harmful NAs
NAs as listed above don't include wolf team kills
Effects on the map take effect on d2, therefore on d1 and n1 your place on the map is irrelevant.
Each person in the game will be randed to a spot on the map at n0 to begin the game at. This is 100% not dependent on role or faction and is random for each player. Expecting at least 3 Voldemort faction members to be at each spot is bad, and you should feel bad.
Each night you may move one spot along any red line. You may choose not to move at all as well. This is sent along with your night action. You may not jump from Pyke to King's Landing for example.
Another side affect of the map is that you can only fight within your region. There will be a fight in the most populated 2 regions each day from d2 to d4 in which one person will not come out alive. Depending on player count there will be a reduction in # of fights to 1 or 0 as the game progresses. The map will become invalid at f11 and everyone will move to the confines of Winterfell where there will be no more battles.
The Battle (ITAs)
Members in the 2 most populated regions can choose to challenge someone in the region they are in before 1pm EST by posting in the thread CHALLENGE XXX. One challenge from each region will be chosen randomly. If no one challenges someone else in that region the mod will rand among all people in that region. You may not challenge yourself, that's just ****ing stupid you ****ing baddie.
After that anyone in either region will PM the mod who they want to support if any by 5pm EST. You are not required to post in thread who you're supporting, or whether you are or not. Nobody will ever be able to find out who you supported.
At approximately 5:15-5:30pm EST the battles will commence and someone will perish. Beware of entering battles your character isn't capable of matching up well in - you'll probably get got.
As long as the game is ongoing, you may only talk about the game inside the game thread
You may only post in the game thread when it is DAY
You may only post when you are alive
If you have a role which allows you to communicate outside the game thread, then you may do so only when allowed by your role, and only with individuals specified by your role
You may not edit or delete posts in the game thread for any reason at any time
You may not quote, post screenshots of, or directly refer to private communications from the mod in a way that conveys the specific form or exact composition of the message
You are expected to participate
You are expected to be familiar with the rules, and you are expected to abide by them even if you think they are incorrect
You are expected to behave civilly
YOU MUST POST AT LEAST ONCE A DAY OR YOU WILL BE SUBBED. I PROBABLY WILL SUB YOU ANYWAYS IF YOU ARE A LOW PARTICIPATION POSTER <5 content posts a day
Werewolf is a game about lying and catching people lying. It's an adversarial game and arguments between players are normal and expected. Passion and Intensity are fine but excessively personal attacks or insults are not. Even in a werewolf game you must respect the forum rules about civility. Failure to do so may cause you to be infracted or temp banned, and repeated problems may get you perma-banned. I'm not going to modkill for insults, but I can't guarantee forum mods won't get you got. If they get you got, I will either sub you or modkill you depending on my mood at the time.
Werewolf is also a community and team-based game. While there are many styles and strategies and reasons for playing and you may choose your own, you are expected to be respectful of the time and energy others put in as players and as moderators. You are expected to play to win. Intentionally sabotaging your team, or choosing strategies with the sole purpose of trolling other players in the game is not allowed. This includes claiming peeks in an unwinnable situation.
The Setup
Villager win condition:
Quote:
You are a member of House xxx. You are a villager. You win by eliminating all WOLVES
Wolf win condition:
Quote:
You are a member of House xxx. You are of the XXX Wolf Faction. You win by reaching parity with ALL remaining players.
Neutral win condition: Who ****ing knows?
There were no n0 actions
Voting
Each day, each player is allowed (and encouraged) to vote to lynch a player. To do so, type the name of the player in bold; if you want to be sure the moderator sees it, you could be so kind as to write something like "vote: BADMOD", but it is not required. You may abbreviate the name of the player, provided it is clear to other players (and the moderator) whom you mean. However the vote counter likes it more if you use the full name, so I prefer that. I'm not responsible for vote counter errors not caught in the corrections time limit.
You may remove your vote by posting "unvote". You may change your vote simply by voting the new player; you do not need to unvote.
At the end of the scheduled game day, the player with the most votes is lynched, and his role revealed in the thread. If two or more players are tied for the most votes, one of the tied players is chosen randomly by the moderator.
There is no majority lynch or must lynch in this game at any time, even at f3.
Day and Night Times
All times give are server time, which is also Eastern Standard Time.
I will open the thread every morning by posting "It is day." You may not post in the thread until I have made the morning post. Day will usually start at 6am
Day lasts until 9pm. Posting at 9:00 is acceptable, and votes with that time stamp will be counted. Posting after that, even just a minute after, is not acceptable, even if I have not yet declared it night by posting "It is night." Do not post in the thread at any time, for any reason, between the end of the day and the opening of the thread the next morning.
Weekends are different: There is not "night" Saturday night -- the thread remains open from Saturday morning until Sunday evening. There is no scheduled Saturday night lynch.
Wolf Chat
Wolves may communicate with each other by any means they desire during wolf chat.
Any chat in the game is 24 hour chat. Dead players are not allowed to discuss anything in dead chat regarding the game whatsoever UNLESS they are fabricating a claim for a live brethren (this is a unique innovation of mine - we'll see how it runs. I reserve the right to change my mind if it's broken). Wolves are also given claimable roles/characters that were thought up for the game but not put in to combat claimaments.
Questions and Confirmation
Any questions regarding the rules should be submitted to the moderator by PM ONLY. Asking questions in the thread of the moderator is grounds for punishment if the mod is feeling grumpy at that time

Re: Game of Thrones 2: A Clash of Kings - A WW Mish-Mash Game Thread (July 30th, 2012)
There will be dead villa (and wolf and neutral) chat in Skype. Please PM me your Skype name to add you when you die, unless you already know someone dead that has your Skype - they can add you as well. Wolves are responsible for adding their team members and me (krayzk9s) on Skype to their wolf chat on d1. Wolf chat in other programs are not allowed.
1 dead post is allowed. Severe actions will be taken against players who use it to angleshoot in any way, intentionally or not. I can't give your team powers, but funny dead posts are awesome and you should make them.

CLAIMING YOUR CHARACTER NAME, HINTING AT IT, OR ANY SUCH SHENANIGANS - WHETHER INTENTIONAL OR NOT - WILL RESULT IN AN IMMEDIATE MODKILL
You are allowed to theorize others' character names and such, however if someone is theorizing about your name you are not allowed to respond at all to that. If you have any Qs about this, please PM me.

Remember, powers don't take effect until d2. No battles d1 as well.
Due to the large amount of people in this game, there will be a post restriction of 50 posts for the first day, to be lifted at 1hr left until eod. For each post gone over, you will have 1 vote added to your total.
IT IS STILL NIGHT

Re: Game of Thrones 2: A Clash of Kings - A WW Mish-Mash Game Thread (July 30th, 2012)
Q: Can I say if I'm strong or weak in battles?
A: Yes, but that's about the extent of hinting about your character you can do, and try to only do it in context of battles.
