shouldn't we be picking the best people to be mods, not the first people to express a preference?

also, people who want to be mods shouldn't be mods, imo.

Yes, Plato etc.

on the other hand here, unlike real life, there is no mechanism by which a person who would be a good mod can be nominated or selected unless it is already know that they're willing to do it, etc.

Also Gad your opinion is noted but whether we like playing WW with each other - which I truly hate - or not has nothing to do with modding a forum

I don't see how this logic applies in practice

Of course, but the people I'm referring to would also be excellent choices. I don't see how you can really decide how good someone would be as a mod by the way they act as a regular POGger- and thus, when you can't really determine who would be the best choice, seniority should play a factor.

As an example, VR is a wonderful POGger but was way too emotionally invested to ever be an effective mod.

I strongly agree with this (edit: I mean with the idea we need a more werewolf focused mod. I think locking that thread was fine although ideally the mods needed to be reading it :P). I suggested hoya get modded mostly just because he was volunteering to run a "bad behavior list" thread for werewolf and it seems like that idea is worth trying out to see how it goes. In order to do it well the person running it has to be able to edit the OP which requires mod status

But clearly there's a lot of stuff being debated about werewolf and how the forum werewolf culture works and one way or another in order for it to be productive someone or some group has to manage the conversation a little bit. I personally think TL is like the most obvious choice of all time as the "werewolf focused mod" but I don't know if she wants to do even more work then she already does. CPhoya volunteered and I don't think he'd be bad at all so it's fine with me

I'd be willing to do it but frankly I think I'm lazier then both of them are so I'm not sure I would be my first choice, although if it was mostly a matter of dealing more with werewolf kerfuffles I could probably do alright. But I obviously play more werewolf then mod and normally I'm not on the list of people that get PMd about resolving werewolf issues

also sorry I got the other thread locked but honestly that discussion was going off on 5 different tangents and it's useless. Even this thread will probably end up this way but as an expression of the desire to see more mod guidance to resolve some of these werewolf related issues I support it

yeah I realized that right after I posted, and unfortunately there are no mods in the forum to edit one in.

meh, VR was an excellent mod for 99% of her time as a mod, and I really didn't have a problem with the other 1%. I've really never understood the boner y'all had for her as mod.

But you do have a point in that we seem to have swapped a good poster in Zurvan for a poor (IMO) mod.
