In 6th place:
Spoiler:
This is a song that mixes a few styles and seems to do a pretty good job of it. I think I will be checking out more of their stuff.
Rating: 8

So some aspects of surf music, and 60's maaaybe 70's aspects in there. Some parts of the song sounds more current, but I think this is fine for fitting the category.
Fit: 1

Not trite, pretty obscure

The lack of rage by nick is confusing. I think he is fuming that he doesn't have anything to rage about.

Spoiler:
This is a really interesting song. It is really hard to categorize in that it seems to have aspects of a few different styles, but they all blend together really nicely. I had to listen to it twice to get even this semblance of a write up. I dig it!
Rating: 8.5

Released in 2010, this definitely has some 70's stylings (and maybe some 60's ones as well).
Fit: 1

Not trite at all. I think it even deserves a little bit better than the default 1.
Triteness: 0.95

So are people still alive beginning to sweat whether they are podium or anti-podium?

Spoiler:
I do dig me some swing. I like the arrangement and style alright, but it does seem to lack punch. I think I like the singing too, but again it just all seems to be lacking something.
Rating: 6.5

Good fit, this really could have been released at any point since say the 40's (was released in 2013). I think that gets it a little extra in the fit category.
Fit: 1.1

Definitely not trite, even as the groups number one song on spotify it only has 13.5K whatevers.

edit: need to catch up on a few submissions, but I've liked everything near the top so far

Phenomenal Handclap Band obviously couldn't anti-podium.

They're a phenomenal band that claps their hands & such.

SURPRISE PODIUM!!!!

I ain't got time to find fancy walrus jpegs!

There is a tie for 3d!

In 3rd place:
Spoiler:
Immediate response from the opening rif was ""alright!"" This song has a cracter I would lable as ""true"" or ""pure."" This will definitely be getting play listed somewhere, going in my walrus holding list for now. The song is really ****ing solid from start to finish.
Rating: 9

Could easily have been released in the 70's
Fit: 1

Not sure how I haven't heard of this guy before. I may have on the radio, but without catching his name. He seems to be a little bit popular.

Also in 3rd place:
Spoiler:
OK, I really kind of like this. I think the vocals are what really does it for me, they are just, something. Also, I like the quirkiness of the arrangement.
Rating: 9

OK, so you are probably going to hate me giving this a fit of 1 because of the arrangement. I will put the submitters explanation in the second spoiler. I think it is well considered entry and I buy the justification.
Fit: 1

Not trite, definitely not trite

I wanted to pick something that was not obvious for this category. I feel like it'd be too easy to pick a throwback band like the black keys or some hip cover of an old song. instead i chose something that has somewhat modern styling but the melody and instrumentation of the tune is the throwback that makes you think of an older time. i think this could have easily been a huge hit in the late 60's.

But there is no tie for 25th. Sorry [redacted]

In 25th place:
Spoiler:
This song doesn't do much for me. It sort of bounces back and forth between a couple of distinct styles, neither of which does much for me.
Rating: 4

It has a lot of modern elements (and a fair amount of 60's ones as well), and was released in 2007.
Fit: 0.5

This group is actually pretty popular.

The release date thing didn't really cost you much. Those guys come up a lot when I start to radio stations of spoitfy to find new music, and I have yet to hear anything by them I I don't skip.
