It's been awhile since I watched this but I remember really liking it and it's one of the few 30s films I've seen, so taking it while I can

I've had to go through the spreadsheet and reign in some liberal interpretations of genre from some people.

You have to remember that IMDb is gospel for this and so are the rules.

That is why TGTBATU counts as a foreign film and The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz don't count as musicals

For my pick #2 I'm taking something that wouldn't be in my top 20 movies of all time but is one of only a couple of movies in my top 100 that have a female lead. I don't know if that says something about the movie industry or about me.

Anyway I'm worried about it getting sniped so I'm taking it now.

SoM and WoO are both musicals according to imdb. SoM isn't a 1930s movie, sci-fi or thriller though.

I only ever intended the main genres listed at the top to count, but I guess I wasn't specific enough and if you're all counting the extra ones listed below then fine. So long as everyone is doing the same thing...

I'm kind of torn on my next choice. I could either take a movie that is one of my absolute favorites and only tick one box, or I can take a movie that is a small notch below and tick off three boxes. Since my goal was to finish off the list as quickly as possible, I'll take the latter and pray that the other movie will be there on the way back.

With that said, my selection is in my opinion the best movie from one of the top 3 directors of all time. You can mark off criteria #s 6,12,and 18 for:

What an excellent movie. I think what I like the best is the opening scene. The way the camera pans around the various Windows makes it feel like we are just looking in on a random story in a big city. Just excellent

Of course they should count. The genres are listed in alphabetical order and they only ever list a maximum of 3 at the top. They aren't necessarily the "main genres".

I reliased this as I posted it and went back and checked [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] (2 movies which I prefer over Singin' in the Rain) and sure enough they have Musical listed at the bottom.

Well, seeing as it's still here and ticks off a couple more boxes I'm not particularly fond of, I'll take a movie widely considered to be one of the greatest of all time.

Ticking off categories 8, 11 and 19 (but not 23 for some weird reason), my second pick is:

Casablanca - I think this just shows how much stuff is out there - wouldn't be an absurd #1 pick at all. If this was a 5 round pick-your-best-nba-team movie draft it would be up there for sure. Otoh, in this it could have fallen lower. :hattip: @ D1iab
