Can you ask John Solo if he noticed anything going on in the victim's room? (we are particularly interested in the night of the murder, but keep the question open in case he doesnt have anything to say about that night)

Yep. You can submit any time you want, but you have up to the time Day 1 finishes and all questions are answered.

I'm also going to give another option, though it would have to be entirely unanimous from the players:

Given the way this game is going (seems like almost total collaboration), if you want I can just give everyone say 5 questions each, and at the end of it all you each have to make a guess (no innocent reveals). This basically allows you all to work together to solve the mystery all the way. However, as stated, everybody has to prefer this, as its not how the game was originally presented.

Coroner is what I meant instead of mortuary btw but I think you got that.

Question
Can you go to the mortuary and check the autopsy for time of death.

Yes sir, I have just had a good look in the study. There wasn't anything that seemed out of the normal, no signs of a struggle for example. On the left wall on the way in is a large globe, and then a wide bookshelf. on the left are two large leather chairs with a small table with magazines on it; Hunter's Digest is on top of the stack. In the middle of the room is a large table, and behind the table are three large windows, all currently closed. The bloodstain mostly remains on the carpet to the left of the table, at it's most clear a couple of metres from the window.... Actually now that I think about it the bloodstain was spread a long way. Almost as if the body was moved or he attempted to crawl.

"Um... going on? I don't know about that... I mean... He called me at around 11 I think? So I went over... He kept asking me about Derrick... Like I don't know, I tried calling him from my phone... Honestly I think Derrick just lost his phone... Um... At least I did... Now I don't know. I just don't know why anyone would hurt Jason... He was awesome... Anyway at about 1 I was too tired to even think so I left.... I heard him leave his room not long after I did... I guess he went to the study for something... Then I heard the..."

John started to break down at this point and I felt it best to leave him for now.

Yes sir. I just checked with the mortuary/coroner, and he told me that his estimation for the time of death was between 1:30 and 2:30 in the morning.

I'm good with whatever everyone wants to do.

i like the original rules, they allow for a good mix of cooperation and competition
but i dont mind changing if a lot of people want to

so, it's strange that the guy suddenly decided to go to the study
it's also strange that his phone was thrown on the bed with no calls or texts in the previous few hours
maybe he received an email on his phone telling him to meet in the study?
or maybe he went to get something in the study?

it's a shame that we dont know if the bar closed before of after the murder, we could potentially clear a bunch of people

Please check the body for gunshot residue

Knowing if the person was shot from close hold or from some feet away will tell us wether the killer/s were close...

i kinda like the idea of all of us working together, its more like RL than a reveal of innocent people each day.

Yes sir, I couldn't find any gunshot residue on the body. The mortuary/coroner informed me that he believes the gun must have been fired from at least a couple of metres away.

So he called Solo at 11 - not clear if that means calling as in yelling or he used the room phone. Might make sense to get the room phone records if the latter.

Would also be good to get closing time at the bar.

you can narrow this down if you feel its too broad, but tell us everything about victim, age, where from, job, any criminal record etc.

I would think we should presume it is not a particularly high powered hand gun.
By the description of the scene - if we take the view that the search of the study was thorough - then we would have found a bullet.
I am assuming the casing of the bullet must have been kept by the killer.
I would also assume that the bullet will still be in the victim.

Anyway - lets do away with the questions and the requests. Lock down this crime scene and lets try and find the murder weapon.
Isolate the guests - question them separately.
Run background criminal checks on all the suspects.
Construct a 10 way timeline for all their movements.
Get CSI in and run prints on the entire study.
Systematically go through the background of each of the British nationals.
Contact the Korean National Police, Australian National Police and the FBI requesting background on all of the guests.

Recontact the coroner and confirm the cailbre of the weapon.
Aks if there are burn marks on the body - to indicate what distance the shot was taken at.

So we need:

Background on the deceased (any former relations to some of the current visitors)
Searched every room and premises of the hotel (to find the gun-->prints-->success.)

Yes - get prints of the victim and run it through Home Office and Scotland Yard databases.
Run background checks on all the staff.

Alright - so I suppose that reduces the chance that it is execution style.

Why move the body?

We should have easy access to all staff that were manning the hotel at 1:30/2:30.
So we can narrow down any eyewitness testimony of guest movements around a say a 12:30 am - 3:30 am window.

This isn't something I can directly answer. You can ask me to ask anybody here about the victim, (or there are other creative ways to get a lot of this info), but I don't know him or have direct access to that information.

Clearly its a prearranged meeting - why else be in a study at 1:30 am?

For him to be in a study at 1:30 am - either he knew and trusted the person - or he felt he had to go to the meeting.
