Sweet.

Yeah, the HBO special is the absolute best thing they've ever done, seen it so many times. But, I just love this early performance of Humans are Dead. I actually wasn't TOO keen on the show compared to their general live stuff, and I thought the songs in the second series were quite a step down.

I had the pleasure of being front row in a similar show a few years ago. Hung around to meet Arj Barker and Brett after, seemed like cool guys (Jemaine never reappeared )

+1

Part of their GOATness is the comedic timing, improv variations and knowing their audience

Clearly, this is not going to go well for me. I've never cared for Flight of the Conchords. I am enjoying the reveal, though, despite being savaged on the first item. I was hoping the fact that the song is from so long ago would help me. Either nostalgia or unfamiliarity.

Welp. That was a bad resubmission.

My general opinion is that most comedy songs tend to end up being neither good comedy nor good songs, so I'm pretty pleased with second! Never really got Flight of the Conchords, will listen to some of the lower finishers when I get the chance!

Strongly considered this, which I love, but I think you have to be a particular type of person to find this kind of really stupid joke funny:

My second category entry is the one I'm happiest with out of everything I entered really, so hoping it does well.

Totally agree - I generally hate comedy songs for this reason. Whenever I'm at a standup gig and I see someone bring out a guitar I can usually tell I'm in for a ****ty 5 minutes.

The worst thing in the world is somebody trying to show you a comedy song on youtube and watching you watch it for a reaction

Stephen Lynch - If I Were Gay

nominated by

ChachiArcola

Spoiler:
An oldie but a goodie. This song is great and the only reason it's as low as 3rd is because I'm so familiar with it already. I think Stephen Lynch is a great musician. He's got a great voice, can write a damn funny song and is competent with a guitar. I think it's funny and it's great writing. You don't see the jokes coming a mile away and there aren't any nonsensical lines put in there just because "it rhymes". Good submission and hard luck that I'm so familiar with it.
So many better Lynch songs though.

My submission would have been King Kong by Tripod, but I'm a nob who didn't put together a list.

Foster Brooks Roasts Don Rickles

nominated by

Spoiler:
I just didn't think this was funny at all. I've seen a bunch of the modern Comedy Central Roasts and thought they were funny when I was 20 or so. Not quite so much now though. This was the same thing but much tamer and it didn't even make me smirk once. Obvious jokes, standard delivery. The fact that everyone on the panel is killing themselves laughing at every line is all just a show to try to encourage us to laugh or think it's funny, but it's not. I thought I might be missing something. I knew Don Rickles but not Foster Brooks. I gathered that he was pretending to be a drunk but thought there might be more to it. I googled him and it turns out there isn't any more to it. He just acts like a drunk and that's his shtick. Sorry buddy 0 points.
