Lonely Island - My Pants

nominated by

Spoiler:
JMurder3

Spoiler:
I normally really dig Lonely Island but this is not one of their stronger songs to put it mildly. I barely think it qualifies as a song. It's 29 seconds long, it's not funny and it's not musically good or interesting. Pretty much a big fail for me as a stand alone piece of music. I'm guessing that this maybe has some context within some album or something bigger? I would hope so anyway

The Firm - Star Trekkin

nominated by

Spoiler:
e_holle

Spoiler:
Stuff that I'm familiar with I'm probably going to score lower than I would otherwise. I will certainly downgrade things if I'm REALLY likely to have heard it. On top of all that I don't like this song. It's silly and annoying and I don't think that this is really comedy. It's meant to be fun, not funny. Fun Fact: Someone I know had a sex challenge CD at university. Essentially it was a CD full of the worst songs possible to have sex to and you'd have to see if you could not let it put you off. Track 1 was this song and track 3 was a crying baby. So in conclusion, it's very well known, not funny and not sexy.

Psychostick - Girl Direction

nominated by

Spoiler:
eyebooger

Spoiler:
This isn't my sort of music. I imagine that the sort of person who's into WWE likes this kind of music, but alas this is not me. At least it's not too long. I think the comedy element of it was decent which is a huge step up on the previous two entries, if that's any consolation.

HE'S NOT ACTUALLY WEARING PANTS DON'T YOU GET IT????? Cracks me up every time.

I suppose I should have submitted JUST 2 GUYS, or I'M ON A BOAT, which me & my wife actually played right after we got married, on a boat.

I wasn't actually planning on submitting a full entry at that point, though. I actually thought there would be a ton of entries, too, so something short might be welcome.

Van Vuuren Bros - A SONG ABOUT BIRDS

nominated by

Spoiler:
rtspurs

Spoiler:
Huge step up in quality to this song. I'd actually call this song pretty good and I enjoyed listening to it. The musical quality is very amateurish, but you don't always need a well produced track for it to be funny. I'm a sucker for this sort of track anyways but the subject matter I didn't relate to very strongly. I imagine that this song means more to you because experienced these birds in Oz, but for me it's the first I'm hearing of them. ****ing **** of a bird.

If you wanted to submit random album filler from Lonely Island then I think you should have gone for this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N24fVEJyQKM

If anyone else really likes this song btw then feel free to chime in with your opinion (or any other song opinions welcomed too)

Hmm, this is going to go poorly. I think that's the worst Lonely Island thing I've heard...

Lonely Island is classic bad unimaginative American humour. They're not the worst, just a poor man's Flight of the Conchord

Stephen Lynch - If I Were Gay

nominated by

Spoiler:
ChachiArcola

Spoiler:
An oldie but a goodie. This song is great and the only reason it's as low as 3rd is because I'm so familiar with it already. I think Stephen Lynch is a great musician. He's got a great voice, can write a damn funny song and is competent with a guitar. I think it's funny and it's great writing. You don't see the jokes coming a mile away and there aren't any nonsensical lines put in there just because "it rhymes". Good submission and hard luck that I'm so familiar with it.

Gavin Osborne - Adam Woodyatt

nominated by

Spoiler:
Bloobird

Spoiler:
Great singer and this is really my sort of humour. It's witty, calm and understated just like its subject matter. It's clever and original and I also enjoy it musically. At points I thought I might have been listening to The Mountain Goats. It helps a lot that I'm aware of who Adam Woodyatt is. Good song and the first comedian that I might look into more after this thing is over. Thanks for that.

my beefs 2010 is the only one I know by him and I like it a lot. If you'd have nominated that then you'd have been in the same boat as Chachi and if you nominated anything else then you might well have done better than you did.

I was trying to find a My Beefs from the past 4/5 years but couldn't find one online with up-to-date issues.

I can't recommend his full live shows more

Flight of the Conchords - Humans are Dead

nominated by

Spoiler:
mexineil

Spoiler:
I love this. I'm aware of Flight of the Conchords but have never seen the TV show and have only seen a couple of clips of them online. I've always thought the clips were great and I've no idea why I've not got into them more. This song is a bit of a slow starter. That's not saying it's bad at the start but it gets better and better as it goes on. The random gun noises, binary solo "come on sucker, lick my battery" are all great. It also helps that they're great musicians. They work really well together and all the jokes hit home. Great song, really funny, very deserving of top spot. Note to self: Marathon Flight of the Conchords.
