$250m for Dunkirk seems pretty aggressive, but I guess it wouldn't totally shock me. It's been a pretty strange year at the box office with most movies seemingly either over-performing or under-performing. And there hasn't been any breakout comedies either.
wtf?! ****ing box office mojo predicts valerian will open for 17 million this weekend IN 5TH PLACE! and dunkirk will open for 51 million and first place
valerian has over 200 million dollar budget. i thought it was going to be big
BOM says It will undoubtedly be the largest horror opening of all time.which is believe is currently held by Paranormal Activity 3 at 52 million. Which is a hell of an opening for a September movie
IT pulled in 13.5 million in Thursday previews, decimating even the super lofty expectations around the industry.
BOM has updated their opening prediction to 85 ****ing million with an outside chance of topping The Exorcists 230 million for highest grossing R rated horror film ever.
Pulling in 180 plus is amazing for the spot IT was taken in, and I'm sad I let my desire for the Dark Tower to be something overshadowed my minds insistence that IT would be the better movie.
Yeah, It is doing crazy business and it will probably have good legs for a horror movie too. It will almost certainly surpass The Exorcist and even 300m+ isn't out of the question.
