Apprentice, Boardroom.
Minimax, Luckay, teams
I have the results in front of me.
Before I reveal them, I want to know how you think you did.
FCBL, CHIM, feel free to contribute.
Personally, I see mostly weak links and errors, but maybe I can be persuaded some of you are competent.

Luckay,
Were you happy with the effort put in by your team? You seemed to express some frustration in thread.

Re: Apprentice, Boardroom.
Well, the results are already revealed, but I would have said this:
When Twitch sent me his designs, I knew we had an uphill battle to fight. We were severely outgunned in the art department. We attempted to win with concept through designing banners specifically to lead the user want to click on them in order to view real quality information about the games we play on POG because these are, after all, POG banners.
As for how we did - I'm glad Axel stepped up and manufactured the banner that was needed at the last minute. I think we did a solid job on concept.

For the most part, I wasn't happy with the effort put in by some members of the team. I understand that this was an artistic task and that nobody really had any art talent in our team. Still though, nobody offered to even try their hand at it or even write concepts - which isn't art based. The brainstorming section was pretty weak as well - which isn't art based. Some members of the team really dropped the ball here.
I'd like to give a shoutout to Axel for making a solid banner at the last minute banner change. It was a good job.

I know I asked you this in private.. and I don't mean to pick on you specifically but you were the leader for this task..
How much of the blame for lack of effort would you take responsibility for when there are many means in getting in contact with your other teammates?
I mean, I find a lot of the effort unacceptable.. and thought you were very good and active in thread. I would have liked to see more of an attempt at motivating your forces.

Re: Apprentice, Boardroom.
Chim, I believed the thread would be quite obviously the best way to communicate since getting all the ideas out in the open was ideal.
I did contact all the "slacker" team members after you asked me this in private to tell them to step up and/or at least check in the thread. None did. Yes, motivation is important, but motivating those who truly have no interest at all in the task (or weren't willing to put up any effort) I learned was futile.
One teammate even volunteered to be fired rather than participate in the task.

I'm happy to read that you followed up with your teammates in private.
Who did you contact?

Re: Apprentice, Boardroom.
Also, in the interest of fair play I do want to say that you were the first person I believe to really get to the heart of the issue. What judges want, what pog would want, proper branding.
I only ask the questions I do because I felt there was a lack of organization.. and while it may not have changed the result of the challenge, it may have hurt your team.

Basically, everybody but Axel. Axel kept up with the thread.
Clowntable and Fredericksburg can be considered virtual no-shows.

Re: Apprentice, Boardroom.
Yeah just vote me off. This lame "let's get some free banners" "challange" was a total joke. I'm pissed enough at this **** that I won't play either way.

Re: Apprentice, Boardroom.
I thought Twitch did an excellent job and the whole team did well together.
Luckay, some unsolicited advice? You use too many sticks and not enough carrots. You may wish to reexamine your management style a bit.

Despite what you may think of it, its a very apprentice-like challenge.. and I'm sure one that Hitch approached them with, and not the other way around.

Re: Apprentice, Boardroom.
i thought the challenge was brilliant...i'm loving that pog now has banners (in pog and outside pog) to help spread the word and grow our forum
i'm shocked that this challenge offended anybody

Re: Apprentice, Boardroom.
I agree, this was not a 2p2 head thinking "Oh boy, how do we get free banners!"
This was a good apprentice challenge with the side benefit of promoting pog.
win/win
